As an apprentice you'll have the chance to learn what goes on behind the scenes to keep a championship-quality golf course looking and playing its best.
What You'll Learn
· General greenkeeping and course maintenance duties
· Mowing and safe operation of a range of turf & maintenance machinery
· Assisting with the preparation and set up of the golf course for play
· Bunker, rough, fairway and general course maintenance
· Weeding, fertilising and watering
· Pest identification and control
· Assisting with irrigation, mechanic, hydraulic and electrical systems
· Maintain a clean, organised and safe maintenance facility and work environment
· Environmental, workplace health & safety and turf management practices
What We're Looking for
· Have a genuine passion for golf and how courses are maintained
· Enjoying working outdoors and being active
· Have a positive attitude and willingness to learn from experienced team members
· Be committed to attending TAFE NSW Ryde or Kurri Kurri Campus as required to complete a Certificate III in Sports Turf Management
· Hold a current drivers licence, with a provisional licence (P Plates) being the minimum
· Have, or be willing to obtain, a White Card / Construction Induction Card
This is a four year apprenticeship, or earlier depending on competency-based completion.
Previous experience in golf course maintenance, turf, horticulture or landscaping is welcome but is not essential.
Applications are also encouraged from 1st, 2nd, 3rd and 4th year apprentices looking to continue developing their skills in a premium golf course environment.
