About the Role
We are seeking an experienced Practice Manager to lead the day-to-day operational management of VDS.
Working closely with the Directors, you will translate agreed strategic priorities into effective action and provide leadership across our people, systems and operations.
This is a hands-on leadership role for someone who can bring structure, clarity and accountability, while fostering a supportive and psychologically safe workplace.
You will have autonomy to manage day-to-day operations within an agreed Delegation of Authority and will play an important role in shaping the next stage of VDS's growth.
Key responsibilities
People & Leadership
Lead, develop and support a high-performing team.
Establish transparent expectations, accountability and role clarity.
Lead recruitment, onboarding, performance management and professional development.
Build a positive, respectful and psychologically safe workplace culture.
Confidently manage challenging people and performance matters.
Operations & Business Performance
Lead day-to-day clinic operations, rostering and resource planning.
Develop and improve systems, processes and workflows.
Monitor operational KPIs and provide business reporting to the Directors.
Support budget management, purchasing, payroll and supplier relationships.
Identify opportunities to improve efficiency and financial performance.
Client Experience & Business Development
Strengthen relationships with clients and referring veterinarians.
Monitor and improve the client experience.
Coordinate agreed marketing and business development initiatives.
Identify opportunities to improve referral conversion, client retention and practice growth.
WHS & Compliance
Maintain effective WHS systems and processes.
Support staff safety and training.
Ensure operational practices meet relevant legislative requirements.
About You
We are looking for an experienced manager who combines strong people leadership with operational and commercial capability.
You will have:
Demonstrated experience as a Practice Manager, Operations Manager or in a comparable senior management role.
Veterinary industry experience is highly desirable.
Proven experience leading and developing teams.
Strong emotional intelligence and self-awareness.
Confidence setting expectations, providing feedback and addressing performance issues.
Experience leading teams through growth and change.
Strong organisational, communication and problem-solving skills.
Experience implementing HR processes and managing the employee lifecycle.
Financial and commercial awareness, with experience using KPIs and business data to drive improvement.
A proactive, solutions-focused approach and the ability to work autonomously.
