We are seeking
motivated and hands-on Leading Hands
to join our Road Stabilisation Team, delivering road rehabilitation, pavement improvement, and Civil Construction projects across Far North Queensland.
Whether it's a local project around Cairns or a remote regional assignment, we're looking for people who enjoy being actively involved in the work, can lead by example, and take pride in delivering quality outcomes.
About the Role
As a Leading Hand, you will lead a dedicated crew undertaking road stabilisation, pavement rehabilitation, maintenance, and civil construction works across both local and remote project sites.
This is a genuinely hands-on position where you'll be expected to work alongside your team, coordinate daily activities, direct crews, and ensure works are delivered safely, efficiently, and to the highest standards.
You'll work closely with Supervisors, Project Engineers and Project Managers to drive project success while fostering a positive safety culture and strong team environment.

Key Responsibilities
Lead and supervise road stabilisation and civil construction crews on local and remote project sites.
Coordinate day-to-day construction activities to meet project targets and schedules.
Work alongside crew members to deliver stabilisation, pavement rehabilitation, road maintenance, and construction works.
Read and interpret construction plans, specifications, and project requirements.
Monitor quality, productivity, and project progress.
Conduct quality assurance checks and site inspections.
Ensure compliance with safety, environmental, and company procedures.
Liaise with Supervisors, Project Managers, clients, and subcontractors to resolve site challenges.
Mentor and support team members through practical leadership and guidance.
Promote a positive safety culture and lead by example.
About You
Proven experience in road stabilisation, road construction, pavement rehabilitation, sewar, storm water or civil infrastructure projects.
Previous Leading Hand experience or a strong track record in a civil construction role.
Strong understanding of stabilisation processes, road construction techniques, and civil construction practices.
Experience operating civil construction plant and equipment highly desired
Ability to read and interpret plans and specifications.
Hands-on leadership style with a willingness to work alongside the crew and lead by example.
Self-motivated with the ability to work independently and take ownership of project outcomes.
Robust work ethic and willingness to contribute wherever required to get the job done.
Excellent leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills.
Strong commitment to safety, quality, and teamwork.
Based in or willing to work within the Far North Queensland region.
Willingness to work on both local projects and remote project rosters as required.
Essential Requirements
Must be Cairns based as this is not a FIFO role
Current White Card.
Current Driver Licence.
Civil construction industry experience.
Ability to pass project-specific medical and site requirements.
Highly Regarded
Truck licence
Machinery tickets and plant operating experience.
Civil Construction Certificate III or relevant trade qualifications.
Previous experience working on roads, pipe, stormwater and subdivision works
