Our Exploration division is an established drilling contractor supporting exploration and mining programs with Air Core, Reverse Circulation and Diamond Drilling services.
The team works across diverse greenfield and brownfield projects in Australia.
BWE Drilling - Waterwell
Our Waterwell division specialises in water bore drilling and well services, operating across local government and Tier 1 mining clients in Australia.
Projects range from mine‐site water supply to deep artesian bore drilling.
BWE Drilling is seeking an experienced
Senior Payroll Officer
to join our team and take ownership of the end to end payroll function.
This is a key role within our business, responsible for ensuring our employees are paid accurately and on time while maintaining compliance with Australian payroll legislation, taxation, superannuation, awards and employment conditions.
As the payroll subject matter expert, you will work closely with employees, managers and internal stakeholders, while also identifying opportunities to improve payroll processes, systems and controls.
What You'll Do:
Manage the end-to-end payroll function across multiple BWE Drilling entities using KeyPay / Employment Hero Payroll.
Ensure all payroll processing is completed accurately and within required deadlines.
Process new starters, terminations, remuneration changes, leave, allowances, overtime, deductions and final payments.
Ensure payroll compliance with Fair Work requirements, Awards,



National Employment Standards, employment contracts, payroll tax, PAYG, superannuation and STP obligations.
Prepare and reconcile payroll reports, payroll tax, superannuation and payroll-related accounts.
Prepare payroll journals and support month-end, year-end and audit requirements.
Monitor changes to payroll, taxation, superannuation and industrial relations legislation.
Act as the key point of contact for payroll enquiries, providing advice and support to employees and managers.
Maintain payroll system integrity, accurate employee records and strict confidentiality.
Identify and implement process improvements, efficiencies and effective payroll controls.
Develop and maintain payroll procedures, documentation and work instructions.
Support payroll-related projects and other duties as required by the Chief Financial Officer.
What You Bring:
Minimum 5 years' experience in end-to-end payroll, preferably using KeyPay / Employment Hero or a similar payroll system.
Experience managing complex payrolls across multiple entities and/or locations.
Previous experience in mining, drilling, resources, contracting or a related industry is highly desirable.
Strong knowledge of Australian payroll legislation, Fair Work requirements, Awards, NES and employment contracts.
Sound understanding of payroll tax, PAYG, superannuation and STP reporting.
Intermediate to advanced Microsoft Excel skills with strong reconciliation capabilities.
Excellent analytical, organisational and problem-solving skills.
A high level of accuracy and attention to detail.
Ability to manage competing priorities and work to strict deadlines.
Strong communication skills and the ability to build effective relationships across the business.
A proactive approach and the confidence to take ownership of the payroll function.
Commitment to keeping up to date with changes in payroll legislation and industry best practice.




Current and valid WA C Class Driver's Licence.
National Police Clearance issued within the last 6 months.
