Contract Specialist – O'Connor, WA
Location:
O'Connor, Perth, WA (currently based in Osborne Park, relocating to our new office in O'Connor in September ****)
Employment Type:
Full-time (Part-time/school hours, at Pro-Rata of the FTE, will be considered for the right candidate)

About the Role
Densford Civil is seeking a Contracts Specialist to provide contractual and commercial support across civil construction projects, procurement activities, supplier and subcontract engagements.
Working closely with Project Managers and company leadership, you will provide commercial and contract advice and your technical skills to deliver and continuously improve the Company's capabilities in contract administration, variations, claims, extensions of time, supplier and subcontractor agreements and commercial risk management.
This role is suited to someone with experience in civil construction contracts who enjoys solving commercial issues and supporting project delivery outcomes.
Key Responsibilities
Contract Support & Commercial Advisory
Review head contracts including AS****, AS****, MRWA and Water Corporation contracts
Engage with Project Managers to ensure they have a full understanding of their contractual obligations, risks and opportunities and how best to manage them
Be the contractual and commercial sounding board for Project Managers during project delivery with the capability and willingness to jump into the fray should circumstances arise that extend beyond the contract and commercial resource capabilities of Project Teams
Variations & Claims
Where risk, complexity or $ value requires,
provide guidance and support in the preparation and submission of variations and contractual claims
Provide advice on process and systems that facilitate the creation and storing of contemporaneous documentation in formats that may be subsequently required in support of Project Claims
Work with Project Managers to ensure successful negotiated outcomes as required
EOTs & Delay Management
Work with the Project teams to identify delay, disruption and claimable events
Provide guidance, systems and monitor compliance with contractual notice requirements
Provide advice and where appropriate support the preparation and submission of Extension of Time claims
Supplier Agreements & Commercial Risk
Review supplier agreements, credit applications and commercial terms
Identify and escalate contractual and commercial risks
Assist in ensuring supplier terms align with project requirements where appropriate
Subcontract & Procurement Support
Review, and, where appropriate draft Subcontractor agreements ensuring alignment with Head Contract and project requirements
Provide contract and commercial advice on procurement activities and supplier engagement when requested
Provide commercial and contractual review of subcontractor claim and variation assessments when advice is sought by the Project Team
Commercial Support
Provide general commercial assistance and advice to Project Managers across active projects
Assist in identifying variation opportunities, cost recovery initiatives and contractual risks
Support the continuous improvement of commercial processes and templates
Dispute & Claims Support
Provide advice, guidance and, where appropriate draft formal Contract Dispute documentation
Support engagement with external consultants and legal advisers where required
About You
Minimum 5 years' experience in the commercial and contract discipline within civil construction, infrastructure or related industries and having advanced to the role Contracts Specialist or equivalent.
Direct experience in the drafting of variation and EOT Claims, contract administration and providing commercial support directly to Project teams
Working knowledge of AS****, AS****, MRWA or Water Corporation contracts
Robust written communication and attention to detail
Commercially minded with the ability to identify and manage risk
Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite
Relevant qualification in Construction Management, Commerce, Law or a related discipline, or working towards
