Our client Golden Business Group is looking for motivated truck drivers to support business operations.
Truck Drivers – HR / HC / MC
Business: Golden Business Group (Golden Earthmovers Management Pty Ltd)
Position Title – Truck Driver
Location – Southeast area of Queensland, Australia
Industry – Earthmoving & Civil Construction
Employment Type – Full-Time
Salary Range – $85,000 to $95,000 per annum plus Superannuation depending on experience and licence class
Reports To - Transport Manager / Operations Manager
Award – Individual Agreement based on Road Transport and Distribution Award ****
Golden Business group is an established earthmoving business seeking experienced HR, HC and/or MC Truck Drivers to join our growing operations.
The successful candidates will be responsible for the safe, efficient and timely transportation of earthmoving equipment, machinery, construction materials, quarry products and oversized loads throughout southeast areas of Queensland and interstate where required.
Key Responsibilities
•Manoeuvring vehicles into position for loading and unloading
•Loading and unloading vehicles using lifting and tipping devices
•Observing safety requirements when loading and unloading vehicles
•Making regular quality checks of vehicles to ensure they can be driven safely
•Estimating weights to comply with load limitations and ensuring safe distribution of weight
•Ensuring goods are stowed and securely covered to prevent loss and damage
•Verifying loading documents, checking condition of goods and obtaining certification of deliveries
•Meet medical fitness requirements applicable to commercial heavy vehicle drivers.
•Operating HR, HC and/or MC truck combinations safely and efficiently
•Transporting quarry materials, soil, and bulk products
•Completing pre-start checks and basic vehicle inspections
•Complying with fatigue management and NHVR requirements
•Maintaining accurate work diaries (EWD or paper)
•Following site safety and client procedures
•Communicating effectively with allocators and site personnel
•Reporting defects, incidents, or delays promptly
•Maintaining a clean and qualified vehicle presentation
In addition, this role includes specialised responsibilities relating to the transport of earthmoving machinery, oversized equipment, heavy haulage operations, fatigue management, NHVR compliance, and Chain of Responsibility obligations that are standard within Queensland's civil construction and earthmoving transport sector.
In detail, these duties include, but are not limited to:
Vehicle Operation
•Operate HR, HC and/or MC heavy vehicles including prime movers, semi-trailers, low loaders, drop decks,
float trailers, side tippers, tippers, truck and dog combinations and B-doubles where licensed.
•Transport earthmoving machinery including excavators, bulldozers, graders, loaders, rollers, skid steers and related equipment.
•Operate vehicles safely under varying road, weather and site conditions.
•Manoeuvre vehicles into loading and unloading positions safely and efficiently.
•Reverse and position trailers in confined construction and quarry environments.
Loading and Load Restraint
•Load and unload machinery using ramps, hydraulic equipment and approved loading methods.
•Secure machinery and loads using chains, binders, straps and approved load restraint systems.
•Estimate and distribute loads to comply with axle weights, gross vehicle mass (GVM), gross combination mass (GCM) and legal load limits.
•Ensure loads are covered, restrained and protected from movement or damage during transport.
•Verify load dimensions and determine permit requirements for oversized or overmass loads.
Vehicle Inspection and Maintenance
•Conduct comprehensive pre-start, en-route and post-trip inspections.
•Check tyres, brakes, steering, suspension, lights, hydraulic systems and safety equipment.
•Identify mechanical faults and report maintenance requirements promptly.
•Maintain vehicle cleanliness and presentation.
•Complete daily maintenance records and defect reports.
Documentation
•Verify delivery dockets, manifests, consignment notes and transport documentation.
•Obtain customer signatures and proof of delivery.
•Complete work diaries, electronic logbooks and fatigue records accurately.
•Maintain NHVR compliance documentation where applicable.
Safety and Compliance
•Observe all workplace health and safety procedures.
•Comply with National Heavy Vehicle Law (NHVL), Chain of Responsibility (CoR) obligations and Heavy Vehicle National Law requirements.
•Adhere to Standard Hours, Basic Fatigue Management (BFM) or Advanced Fatigue Management (AFM) where applicable.
•Conduct risk assessments before loading, unloading and securing machinery.
•Wear and maintain required PPE at all worksites.
•Report incidents, hazards, near misses and vehicle damage immediately.
Earthmoving Transport Duties
•Deliver and collect earthmoving equipment from construction sites, mines, quarries and civil infrastructure projects.
•Assist operators with safe loading and unloading procedures.
•Perform basic machinery inspections prior to transport.
•Position machinery safely for transport without causing site damage.
•Work in accordance with client site induction requirements.
Customer Service
•Communicate professionally with clients, supervisors and site personnel.
•Provide updates regarding delivery schedules and transport delays.
•Represent the company in a professional manner at all times.
Additional Responsibilities
•Assist with yard operations when required.
•Refuel vehicles and maintain fuel usage records.
•Assist with vehicle washing and housekeeping.
•Operate GPS, electronic work diary and fleet management systems.
•Participate in toolbox meetings and safety training.
•Mentor trainee drivers where required.
•Work overtime, weekends, nights and away-from-home assignments as operational requirements dictate.
•Perform any other reasonable duties consistent with the position.
Required Skills and Experience
•A current Australian HR, HC and/or MC heavy vehicle licence with satisfactory driving history.
•Demonstrated experience of at least 1 year in operating heavy vehicles in bulk haulage, quarry, or civil construction
•Good knowledge of heavy vehicle safety requirements, road regulations including fatigue management and Chain of Responsibility (CoR)
•Reliable, punctual and able to work effectively as part of a team.
•Construction induction (White Card) preferred
•Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
Qualifications
•AQF Cert II or Cert III in Driving Operations
At least one year of relevant experience may substitute for the formal qualifications listed above.
In some instances, relevant experience and/or on-the-job training may be required in addition to the formal qualification.
Physical Requirements
The position requires the ability to:
•Lift and handle chains, binders and load restraint equipment.
•Climb onto trailers and machinery safely.
•Work outdoors in varying weather conditions.
•Sit and drive for extended periods.
•Meet medical fitness requirements applicable to commercial heavy vehicle drivers.
