Microsoft Fabric migration and platform buildSmall internal data team with end-to-end responsibility
A well-known Australian consumer business is hiring a Senior Data Engineer to help complete its move from an established SQL Server data warehouse to Microsoft Fabric.
Working in a small internal data team, you will be responsible for the platform from ingestion through to the Power BI semantic layer.
The role includes solution design, pipeline engineering, data modelling, platform support and setting engineering standards.
The immediate work is to complete and harden the Fabric medallion architecture, build reliable ingestion across Azure and AWS, and deliver governed data models for reporting and future AI use cases.
Responsibilities
Build ingestion pipelines from REST APIs, SQL Server, MySQL and PostgreSQLDevelop Microsoft Fabric Pipelines, Dataflows Gen2, Spark notebooks and Delta tablesBuild and maintain bronze, silver, gold and curated data layersDesign CDC and incremental-load patterns using Fabric mirroring, AWS DMS, Debezium or similar toolsDesign dimensional models and reusable Power BI semantic modelsImprove monitoring, testing,



data quality and production supportDocument technical decisions and set practical engineering standards
Skills and experience
Hands-on Microsoft Fabric experience in a production environmentStrong SQL, dimensional modelling and data warehousing experienceExperience building production pipelines across APIs and relational databasesFabric Lakehouse, medallion architecture, Spark and Delta knowledgeExperience with Power BI semantic models, Direct Lake and DAXAbility to design and deliver a solution from a business problem without requiring a detailed technical specificationStrong production support, reliability and troubleshooting skillsAzure Functions or Logic Appsdbt or other data-quality and testing toolsAWS source systems and cross-cloud integrationReal-time or event-driven dataRetail, QSR, POS, loyalty or other high-volume transactional data
A robust Azure Data Engineer with genuine Microsoft Fabric migration experience may also be considered.
