Our client, a major food manufacturing organisation, is seeking an experienced Senior Procurement Consultant to lead a significant procurement initiative across ANZ on a 6-month full-time contract.
This role is based in Sydney or Melbourne, with travel to New Zealand as required.
This is a hands‐on consulting engagement where your category expertise will be directly applied to validating supplier spend, identifying value creation opportunities, and driving commercial outcomes across priority categories.
You will work closely with business stakeholders, procurement teams, and senior leadership — and will be expected to operate independently in a fast‐moving, often ambiguous environment.
Key Responsibilities
Validate the current supplier spend landscape using accounts payable data, contract data, and up to 3 years of historical spend data across priority categories
Review and analyse available spend and contract data to ensure accuracy, completeness, and suitability for opportunity identification
Develop a thorough understanding of existing contracts, previous negotiations, and supplier performance to identify leverage points and improvement opportunities
Facilitate workshops and discovery sessions with business and procurement stakeholders to surface savings opportunities and align with existing initiatives pipelines
Assess and prioritise identified opportunities based on complexity, achievability, and potential savings — drawing on market benchmarks and specialist procurement expertise
Lead direct supplier negotiations and end‐to‐end sourcing processes across relevant categories
Key Requirements
10+ years of experience in procurement, strategic sourcing, or supply chain consulting
Proven category expertise in one or more of the following (in order of preference): CIP chemicals, packaging, ingredients
Solid commercial acumen with demonstrated ability to lead complex negotiations and deliver tangible savings outcomes
Experience operating in or with production, manufacturing, or food preparation environments
Excellent stakeholder engagement skills across both operational and senior leadership levels
Willingness and ability to travel within Australia and to New Zealand
Prior consulting experience within a top‐tier or specialist procurement advisory firm
Exposure to food & beverage, FMCG, or dairy supply chains
Familiarity with spend analytics tools or procurement platforms
Experience working on structured procurement transformation or cost reduction programmes
