The Opportunity
Survey Management Solutions (SMS) is growing, and we're looking for an experienced Senior Surveyor to join our Melbourne Infrastructure team, based in Port Melbourne.
This is an exciting opportunity to work on some of Melbourne's largest civil infrastructure projects, including major road, rail, utilities and transport developments across metropolitan Melbourne.
The role offers the perfect mix of field and office work, allowing you to combine hands-on surveying with project management, data processing, technical leadership and client liaison.
We're looking for someone who enjoys taking ownership of projects, mentoring surveyors and embracing new technology while delivering exceptional outcomes for our clients.
What You'll Be Doing
No two days are the same, but your responsibilities will include:
Delivering construction and engineering surveys across major infrastructure projectsPerforming set-out, as-built, feature, monitoring and control surveysProcessing survey data and preparing accurate deliverables for clientsCreating and managing digital terrain models and machine guidance filesOperating and maintaining GPS, Total Stations,



laser scanners and other modern survey equipmentManaging survey quality, documentation and project schedulesProviding technical leadership and mentoring Surveyors and Junior SurveyorsLiaising with clients, project managers, engineers and site teamsSupporting machine control and digital engineering requirementsMaintaining the highest standards of safety, quality and professionalism
About You
You'll be an experienced surveyor who enjoys both technical work and leading people.
Ideally, you'll have:
Qualifications in Surveying, Spatial Science, Geomatics or a related disciplineSeveral years' experience delivering construction or infrastructure surveying projectsStrong knowledge of GPS, Total Stations and modern survey softwareExperience processing survey data and producing quality deliverablesStrong leadership and mentoring skillsExcellent communication and client relationship skillsA current driver's licenceA strong commitment to safety and quality
