Byron Beef Jerky / Living Better FoodsBangalow, Byron Hinterland NSWFull-time or 4 days per week | Onsite role$48–$55 per hour plus super, depending on experience Byron Beef Jerky is looking for an experienced Senior Bookkeeper / Accounts Manager to take ownership of the day-to-day finance function in our growing food manufacturing business.
We are a family-owned Australian business based in Bangalow, supplying national retailers, independent stores, wholesale customers and online customers across Australia.
We are practical, fast-moving and hands‐on, and we need someone who enjoys getting across the detail, keeping the numbers clean and helping the owners understand exactly where the business is sitting.
This is a key role in the business.
You will still be hands‐on with the daily bookkeeping, reconciliations, accounts payable, payroll and reporting, but we are looking for someone with the experience and confidence to bring structure, accuracy and commercial insight to the finance function.
Just as importantly, we are looking for someone who is professional, respectful and easy to work with.
This role works closely with the Directors and the wider team, so we need someone who communicates clearly, handles pressure calmly and contributes positively to the workplace.
About the role You will be responsible for the core finance and bookkeeping functions of the business, including: Daily Xero bank reconciliationsAccounts payable and supplier paymentsAccounts receivable and debtor follow‐upPayroll processing and payroll checksBAS, IAS and compliance supportMonth‐end reconciliations and reportingCash flow tracking and weekly business position reportingMonitoring customer claims, deductions and account issuesMaintaining accurate supplier, customer and payroll recordsPreparing practical financial reports for the DirectorsSupporting the owners with cash flow,



margin and business performance informationWorking with our external accountant as requiredPreparing, maintaining and improving management spreadsheets, including reporting tools, reconciliations, cash flow tracking and business performance summaries.Strong Excel skills are essential.
This is not a background data‐entry role.
We are looking for someone who can take responsibility for the numbers, notice when something does not look right, ask good questions and help bring clarity to the financial side of the business.
About you You will be experienced, steady and commercially minded.
You will be comfortable working in a hands‐on small to medium business environment where common sense, accuracy and follow‐through matter.
You do not need layers of management around you to get things done.
You are confident taking ownership of your area, keeping things organised and providing clear information to the business owners.
You will also be someone who is well‐mannered, respectful and good to work with.
We value people who are professional, approachable and able to have a laugh while still getting the job done properly.
You will ideally have: Strong bookkeeping, accounting or accounts management experienceExcellent Xero knowledgeGood understanding of BAS, GST and standard bookkeeping complianceStrong reconciliation and attention‐to‐detail skillsConfidence working with spreadsheets and financial reportsThe ability to follow through and keep things organisedA calm,



steady approach under pressureClear and respectful communication skillsA positive attitude and willingness to work as part of a teamThe confidence to raise issues early and clearlyExperience in manufacturing, wholesale, FMCG or food production would be highly regarded We are looking for someone reliable, discreet and capable.
The right person will be trusted with important business information and will work closely with the owners.
The role Full‐time or 4 days per week Onsite role based in Bangalow $48–$55 per hour plus super, depending on experience Weekly pay Long‐term role for the right person We are ideally looking for someone full‐time, however we are open to discussing a 4‐day week for the right experienced person.
What matters most is that the finance function is properly owned, organised and reliable.
