The Governance Support Unit is seeking an experienced and highly organised Senior Governance Support Officer to support the University's strategic and business decision-making processes. This is an exciting opportunity to work closely with senior leaders, committee chairs and governance bodies across the University, providing expert governance support, strategic advice and leadership on a range of governance matters. You will also have the opportunity to contribute to governance improvement initiatives, special projects and the productive use of emerging technologies, including Artificial Intelligence.

About the Team

The Corporate Governance Team plays a critical role in supporting the University's governance framework and decision-making processes. The team provides governance support to Council, Academic Board and numerous committees across the University, ensuring effective governance, compliance and strategic oversight. Working in a collaborative and high-performing environment, the team partners with senior executives, committee chairs and stakeholders across UTS to promote sound governance practices and support informed decision-making.

About the Role

Reporting to the Deputy Director, Corporate Governance,



you will provide high-level governance support to assigned committees of Council and Academic Board. You will coordinate committee operations, prepare governance documentation, provide governance advice, support decision-making processes and contribute to policy, delegations and governance improvement initiatives.

The role requires strong judgement, exceptional communication skills and the ability to build trusted relationships with senior stakeholders while managing competing priorities and complex governance matters.

Key Responsibilities

- Provide strategic and administrative support to University governance bodies, which may include Council, Academic Board and associated committees.
- Coordinate committee meetings, agendas, papers, minutes, actions and governance records.
- Provide governance advice and guidance to committee chairs, senior executives and stakeholders across the University.
- Prepare high-quality reports, briefing papers, governance documentation and communications.
- Support the interpretation and application of governance frameworks, policies, legislation and regulatory requirements.
- Lead or contribute to governance projects and initiatives such as delegations, elections, rules and policy-related activities.
- Identify and implement process improvements,



including opportunities to enhance governance practices through technology and Artificial Intelligence.
- Build productive relationships with stakeholders and contribute to governance training, workshops and capability development activities.

About You

To be successful in this role, you will bring:

- Experience providing governance support to boards, committees or equivalent decision-making bodies, including agendas, papers, minutes and governance processes.
- Demonstrated experience providing governance, policy, regulatory or compliance advice within a complex organisation.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to prepare high-quality reports, briefings and committee documentation.
- Strong stakeholder engagement and relationship management skills, with the ability to influence and collaborate with senior leaders and diverse stakeholders.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving and decision-making skills, with the ability to exercise sound judgement and initiative
- Excellent organisational, project management and prioritisation skills, with the ability to manage competing deadlines and multiple priorities.
- High attention to detail and the ability to work independently while contributing positively to a team-oriented team environment.
- A relevant tertiary qualification or equivalent professional experience. Legal qualifications and experience within the higher education sector will be highly regarded.

Remuneration/Salary
Base Salary Range: $101,262 - $114,531 per annum (HEW 6/7)

This role attracts 17% superannuation in addition to the base salary.

This position is offered on a full time continuing basis.
