This is a hands-on commercial role, not a corporate management position. You'll work across the project portfolio supporting delivery teams with the commercial and contractual matters that inevitably arise on complex civil construction projects. A major focus will be ensuring teams are administering their contracts properly — early, accurately and proactively.
Key responsibilities
- Support Project Managers and Operations Managers with day-to-day commercial and contractual matters
- Provide robust contract administration oversight across multiple civil projects
- Review head contracts and clearly communicate key obligations, risks and opportunities to project teams
- Assist with variations, claims, EOTs, notices and contractual correspondence
- Ensure contractual notices and entitlements are identified and actioned within required timeframes
- Support project teams with subcontractor commercial and contractual matters
- Assist with difficult negotiations, claims and disputes
- Review project commercial performance and identify emerging risks early
- Work with PMs on forecasting, cost-to-complete and margin protection
- Provide practical commercial advice that helps teams make better decisions on the ground
About you
- Significant commercial or contract administration experience within civil construction
- Strong knowledge of Australian construction contracts
- Extensive experience with variations, EOTs, notices, claims and contractual correspondence
- Experience working directly with Project Managers and operational teams
- Strong understanding of project cost management and forecasting
- The ability to quickly interpret complex contracts and identify commercial risk
- Strong written communication and contractual correspondence skills
- Confidence dealing with clients, consultants and subcontractors
- A practical, solutions-focused approach to commercial management
