About the role

Our Supported Independent Living (SIL) Program supports people with complex disability and/or mental health needs to live their lives with as much autonomy as possible within their home setting & community. Your role will be to support the development of the participants skills to live as independently as possible and deliver innovative support structures within our SIL Program.

To Wellways, a SIL Support Worker is as unique and individual as the participants they support. Our Support Workers come from a variety of backgrounds and experiences, but they all share a common goal of empowerment and development of participants.

Support provided to participants include, but are not limited to:

- Assisting participants with personal care
- Domestic and daily living support
- Following instructions provided in Behaviour Support Plans
- Transporting participants
- Meal preparation and shopping assistance
- Overnight support (inactive sleepovers)
- Promoting independent living, community participation and social inclusion





You will help participants flourish according to their own interests and goals to enable them to participate in a positive and confident manner within their own home and community.

To be successful in this role, you will need:

- Certificate 3 or 4 in Mental Health, Disability, Aged Care or Home and Community Care (either completed or currently enrolled), or experience in a similar industry with transferable skills
- Expertise across a diversity of disability types, including mental health
- Evidence of working rights within Australia such as a passport or birth certificate
- A current valid Driver's License and an insured and registered vehicle
- NDIS Worker Orientation Module Certificate
- National Police Records Check, Working with Children's Check - Employee and NDIS Worker Screening Clearance
