Medical Officer – Virtual Hospital | Fully Remote | Up to $220/hr

Charterhouse Medical is recruiting experienced Medical Officers to join a leading virtual hospital service delivering acute, hospital-level care to patients in their own homes.

This is a fully remote prospect, working as part of an established multidisciplinary team alongside doctors, nurses and paramedics to assess, admit and manage patients through a hospital-at-home model.

The role

- Working through an established virtual hospital platform, you will be responsible for:
- Assessing, admitting and managing patients remotely
- Providing clinical diagnosis, investigation, treatment and ongoing management
- Participating in virtual ward rounds and clinical handovers
- Working closely with Medical Officers, nurses, paramedics, hospitals and GPs
- Communicating with patients, families and carers
- Maintaining accurate clinical records and discharge documentation
- Delivering secure, evidence-based and patient-centred care

Hours

- The service operates 24/7,



although newly appointed doctors are generally not rostered for overnight shifts during their initial months

Typical shifts include:

- 8:00 am – 4:30 pm
- 1:30 pm – 10:00 pm
- Variable 3:00 pm – 8:00 pm shift
- All shifts operate according to South Australian time.

A minimum commitment of 8 hours per week is required. Doctors who can offer multiple shifts or days will be strongly preferred, particularly those with weekend availability.

Some flexibility around shift times may be considered for appropriately experienced senior doctors.

Requirements

- To be considered, you must hold:
- Current unrestricted AHPRA registration
- FACRRM; or
- FRACGP obtained through an eligible rural training pathway
- Relevant RACP specialists may also be considered, particularly those with experience in:
- General Medicine
- Respiratory Medicine
- Infectious Diseases
- Geriatrics
- Palliative Care

You will also require:

- Minimum 5 years’ experience as a medical practitioner, with 10+ years preferred
- Solid general medicine, acute care or relevant specialist experience
- Ability to work effectively within a multidisciplinary virtual care environment
- Current CPR, BLS or ALS certification
- Appropriate medical indemnity insurance
- HPI-I number
- Current National Police Check
- Previous virtual care or telehealth experience is advantageous but not essential.
