About the role

Banjo's Bakery Cafe is seeking a friendly and enthusiastic Sales Assistant to join our team in Brighton, Tasmania. This is a part time position that offers flexibility whilst allowing you to be part of a welcoming community-focused business. As a Sales Assistant, you will be the face of our bakery cafe, delivering exceptional customer service and helping to create memorable experiences for our guests. Your role is essential in maintaining the high standards our customers expect and driving sales through genuine engagement and product knowledge.

What you'll be doing

- Greeting customers warmly and providing excellent customer service at all times

- Operating the point-of-sale system accurately and handling cash and card transactions securely

- Taking customer orders for food and beverages and ensuring accuracy before fulfilling them

- Displaying and promoting bakery products and cafe offerings in an appealing manner

- Maintaining a clean, organised and hygienic workspace, including the serving area and customer-facing zones

- Restocking shelves and display cases with fresh products as needed throughout the day

- Processing customer inquiries and complaints professionally and escalating issues when necessary

- Supporting the team during busy periods to ensure smooth operations

- Following food safety and hygiene procedures to maintain compliance with health regulations

What we're looking for

- Previous retail or customer service experience, ideally in a bakery, cafe or hospitality environment

- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills with a genuine passion for helping customers

- A friendly, positive attitude and the ability to remain calm under pressure





- Basic numeracy skills and the ability to handle cash transactions accurately

- Reliability and punctuality, with the flexibility to work part-time hours including weekends and public holidays as required

- The ability to work both independently and as part of a collaborative team

- Food safety certification or willingness to obtain it (advantageous)

- Barista experience desirable
