The Opportunity

We are seeking an experienced and capable Project Manager - Transport to join our Projects and Engineering team within Infrastructure and Engineering Services.

This role plays an important part in delivering Council's Capital Works Program, with a primary focus on transport infrastructure projects. You will manage projects through the full project lifecycle, from initiation and planning through to execution and close out, ensuring projects are delivered effectively and achieve high-quality outcomes for our community.

As Project Manager - Transport, you will manage a range of complex projects, take responsibility for project delivery activities and work collaboratively with internal specialists, stakeholders and the community to achieve successful project outcomes.

In this role, you will:

- Manage the delivery of projects within Council's Capital Works Program, primarily relating to transport assets, while also supporting projects across other areas where required.
- Manage projects through initiation, planning, execution and close out phases, commencing from the agreed Project Charter.
- Take responsibility for complex projects delegated by the Coordinator Project Delivery - Transport and contribute to the delivery of other projects as required.
- Provide comprehensive project delivery services including project management, procurement and tendering, contract management, budget management, risk management, project reporting, surveillance, project finalisation and records management.
- Manage multiple complex projects concurrently across different stages of the project delivery pipeline while maintaining effective oversight of time, cost, risk and project outcomes.




- Work collaboratively with key internal stakeholders and specialist resources, including design, environmental, surveillance and operations teams, to support effective project delivery.
- Build constructive relationships with the community, internal stakeholders and other customers while maintaining Council's expected levels of customer service.
- Provide specialist advice and support to junior team members and contribute to the Capital Works - Transport team's pursuit of industry best practice.
- Maintain your professional knowledge and contribute to a culture of continuous improvement.

What you'll bring

Degree level qualifications, or relevant tertiary education supported by substantial experience, in Civil Engineering, Project Management or a similar field.

Solid experience in the delivery of transport infrastructure projects, with the ability to manage projects within time, budget and organisational requirements and apply relevant engineering, legislative and environmental requirements.

Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work across multidisciplinary teams, build strong relationships, influence stakeholders and negotiate positive outcomes.

A proven ability to plan and prioritise, deliver results, work collaboratively and manage procurement and contracts,



together with a commitment to continuous improvement.

Salary: Commencing salary circa $113,000 - $124,400 p.a. plus superannuation. (dependent on skills and experience)

3.5% Civil Liability Allowance

A vehicle arrangement will be made with the successful candidate for this role. Council will provide you with a leaseback vehicle for an annual fee calculated as 20% of the gross purchase price. This is a fully maintained vehicle for both business and full private use with no additional expenses in normal use.

Location: This position will be based at our Administration Centre in Yalawanyi Ganya at 2 Biripi Way, Taree. You may also be required to be based from other Council sites across the MidCoast Council region.

Tenure: Permanent, Full Time.
