About the Opportunity
ProCare Australia is seeking experienced and compassionate Early Childhood Educators to support a specialist Early Years Program in Hawthorne .
Our client delivers an Early Years Program for families residing in temporary crisis accommodation . The service supports children and parents who may be experiencing the effects of trauma, homelessness, family disruption and uncertainty , helping to create positive early childhood experiences and strengthen family wellbeing.
We're looking for educators who understand that for children experiencing homelessness, trauma and family disruption, an Early Years environment can provide much more than education and care. Safety, consistency, connection and trusted relationships matter.
The role involves providing support to women and children who may have experienced domestic and family violence. Being female is a genuine occupational requirement for this position under the Anti-Discrimination Act 1991 (Qld).
This is not a traditional childcare service.
The program operates within a highly trauma-informed environment and supports children and families experiencing significant vulnerability. We are therefore looking for educators who bring more than strong early childhood practice – you will need to be confident building relationships, recognising safeguarding concerns, supporting emotional regulation and responding sensitively to children who have experienced significant trauma and instability.

What You'll Be Doing
Working alongside the existing team, you will help create a safe,
predictable and nurturing environment where children can participate, develop and build positive relationships.
Your responsibilities may include:
- Providing high-quality, trauma-informed early childhood education and care
- Building safe, consistent and trusting relationships with children
- Supporting children experiencing trauma, instability and significant vulnerability
- Supporting emotional regulation and responding appropriately to challenging behaviours
- Supporting children with developmental delays, additional needs and communication difficulties, including non-verbal children
- Creating inclusive and developmentally appropriate learning experiences
- Recognizing and responding appropriately to child protection and safeguarding concerns
- Building respectful relationships with parents and families experiencing complex circumstances
- Working collaboratively with Early Years and Community Services professionals
- Maintaining appropriate documentation and professional records
- Following all child safeguarding, workplace and service policies and procedures
The Experience We're Looking For
In addition to your Early Childhood Education experience, we are particularly interested in educators with experience in one or more of the following areas:
- Trauma-informed practice
- Child protection or safeguarding
- Supporting vulnerable children and families
- Supporting children with developmental delays
- Emotional regulation and challenging behaviours
- Family support or intensive family support
- Community Services
- Child Protection
- Residential or out-of-home care
- Therapeutic care or other human services environments
A qualification in Community Services, Youth Work, Social Work, Family Services or a related human services discipline is also highly regarded but is not essential .
Mandatory Requirements
To be considered, you must hold:
- ACECQA-approved Early Childhood Education and Care qualification
- Current Blue Card
- Current First Aid & CPR
- Current Food Safety Certificate
- Minimum 12 months' experience working within an early childhood setting
- Solid understanding of the EYLF, NQF, child safeguarding and child protection
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Availability Wednesday to Friday, 8:00am–3:30pm
