$35.81 per hour + superannuation

Help maintain the sporting grounds, parks and open spaces that support recreation, community connection and active lifestyles across Wodonga. This is a hands‑on role for someone who enjoys working outdoors, operating plant and equipment, and taking pride in creating safe, high‑quality spaces for the community.

Working as part of the City Services team, you'll contribute to the upkeep and presentation of sporting grounds, reserves and public open spaces used by residents, sporting clubs and visitors every day. From sports turf maintenance and irrigation activities to landscaping and horticultural work, the role delivers visible outcomes that help keep Wodonga's recreational facilities operating at their best.

Key Aspects of the Role:

Maintain Sporting Grounds and Open Spaces
Work across sporting grounds, reserves and recreational facilities, helping keep some of Wodonga's most valued community assets safe, functional and visually appealing. Daily activities may include mowing, turf maintenance, horticultural work and seasonal renovation activities that support quality playing surfaces and community enjoyment.

Operate Plant, Equipment and Irrigation Systems
Take a hands‑on role operating tractors, ride‑on mowers and other maintenance equipment used across parks and sporting facilities. The role also supports irrigation system maintenance and repairs, helping maintain healthy turf conditions and effective water use across Council-managed sites.

Support Safe and Sustainable Maintenance Practices
From chemical application through to traffic management and workplace safety, this role contributes to maintaining safe work sites and quality public spaces. Careful attention to procedures, environmental outcomes and risk management helps protect staff, community members and Council assets.

Be Part of a Team-oriented Team
Working alongside experienced colleagues, you'll contribute to maintenance programs,



customer requests and operational activities across the City Services team. The work is varied, practical and rewarding, with every day contributing to the presentation and functionality of community facilities across Wodonga.

We're looking for someone who enjoys outdoor work, has a robust eye for detail and takes pride in presenting high‑quality sports ovals and community spaces. You'll bring a practical, hands‑on approach to your work and contribute positively within a team environment.

To be successful in this role, you will bring:

Experience in sports turf, horticulture, irrigation or public open space maintenance.

Experience operating tractors, ride‑on mowers or similar plant and equipment.

Practical knowledge of sports turf maintenance, including grass identification, turf health and disease management, irrigation and the safe application of chemicals.

The ability to organise work effectively, maintain high standards of quality and safety, and take pride in the presentation of sporting grounds and facilities.

Prior to commencement, the successful applicant will be required to provide the following.

A copy of a recent National Police Check (less than 3 months)

Evidence of eligibility to work in Australia

Construction Industry White Card.

Farm chemical users’ certificate

The completion of a pre‑employment functional assessment (paid for by the council) will also be required.
