The opportunity
We’re looking for innovative and future-focused cadets who valueteamwork and are committed to learning the trade ofsurveying. While working at the City of Mandurah, you willdevelop technical skills in design, surveying and constructionengineering through on-the-job training.
The cadetship is a full-time fixed-term contract for a period of four years. You will study part-time at TAFE (currently NorthMetropolitan TAFE Perth Campus) to obtain a Certificate IV inSurveying and Spatial Information Services (Surveying) and aDiploma of Surveying.
What you’ll do:
- Develop skills and knowledge required to undertakesurveying and engineering duties
- Assist surveyors in general surveying duties
- Use CAD Software to produce drawings
- Use survey equipment such as GPS’s, Total Stations andLevel’s
- Collect, record and validate detailed surveyinformation
- Learn surveying and measurement skills
- General drafting duties, manual or computer aided
To be successful in this role, you will need:
- Successful completion of Year 12 or ATAR (with passes inMathematics (Calculus), English, Physics and Chemistry) and/orCertificate III in Surveying and Spatial InformationServices
- Current C class national drivers’ licence
- Current Recreational Skippers Ticket (RST)
- Computer literate
- High level of written and oral communication skills withpeople at all levels
- High attention to detail and accuracy
- Organised with the ability to meet required deadlines
- Keen interest in developing skills, knowledge andexperience in the delivery of surveying services
- Interest and commitment to undertake a qualification insurveying
- Ability to work effectively and cooperatively within a teamenvironment
- Ability to follow instructions
