About the role

JJames Painting is seeking an experienced Painter & Decorator to join our team on a full-time basis. This is an excellent opportunity to work with a well-established painting company based in Caloundra West, QLD. As a Painter & Decorator, you will play a crucial role in delivering high-quality finishing work to our clients' properties, ensuring every project meets our exacting standards. You will be responsible for both interior and exterior painting work, as well as decorative finishes that transform spaces and enhance our clients' satisfaction. This position is integral to maintaining JJames Painting's reputation for excellence and attention to detail across all projects.

Key responsibilities

- Prepare surfaces thoroughly by cleaning, sanding, filling and priming walls, ceilings, woodwork and other surfaces

- Apply paint, varnish and other protective finishes using brushes, rollers and spray equipment to achieve professional results

- Execute decorative painting techniques including feature walls, faux finishes and specialist effects

- Measure and cut materials such as wallpaper and border trim with precision

- Hang and fit wallpaper, wall coverings and other decorative materials to a high standard

- Maintain all tools and equipment in good working order and ensure proper storage and safety compliance

- Interpret design specifications and colour schemes according to client requirements and project plans

- Work both independently and as part of a team to complete projects on schedule and within budget

- Adhere to all health and safety regulations and maintain a clean, safe work environment

- Communicate effectively with team members,



supervisors and clients regarding project progress and requirements

What we're looking for

- Proven experience as a Painter & Decorator, ideally gained within the residential or commercial sectors

- Proficiency in all painting techniques including brush work, roller application and spray painting

- Demonstrated experience with wallpaper hanging and decorative finishes

- Strong knowledge of surface preparation methods and the ability to identify appropriate surface treatments

- Competency in colour matching and interpretation of design specifications

- A keen eye for detail and commitment to delivering work of the highest quality

- Valid driver's licence and reliable transport to travel between job sites

- Excellent communication and teamwork skills

- Knowledge of and adherence to health and safety standards in the painting industry

- Physical fitness and the ability to work at heights and in various weather conditions

- Current First Aid certification or willingness to obtain it (desirable)
