As our operations continue to grow, we are seeking an experienced HSEQ Lead to strengthen our frontline safety leadership and support the health, safety and wellbeing of our people.

This is a full-time, Monday-to-Friday position based in Toowoomba, with travel to other operational and field locations as required.

The Opportunity

As HSEQ Lead, you will lead OnSpec’s HSEQ function and play an active role in shaping a practical, proactive and people-focused safety culture.

Maintaining a visible presence across our offices, workshops, operational bases and field activities, you will work closely with leaders and employees to identify emerging risks, strengthen safe decision-making and ensure effective safety measures are embedded throughout the business.

You will also oversee OnSpec’s Integrated Management System, competency framework, assurance activities and HSEQ compliance obligations.

You will be responsible for:

- Providing visible and proactive safety leadership across office, workshop and field environments
- Coaching leaders and employees in hazard identification, risk management and effective safety conversations
- Identifying emerging HSEQ risks, including psychosocial hazards, and implementing practical improvement initiatives
- Planning and leading engaging safety meetings focused on operational risks and shared learning
- Conducting site visits, inspections, observations and risk assessments




- Maintaining HSEQ policies, standards, procedures and records
- Ensuring OnSpec’s Integrated Management System remains effective and compliant
- Overseeing competency requirements, mandatory training and training records
- Supporting incident, non-conformance and service-performance investigations
- Monitoring corrective actions through to completion and sharing lessons across the business
- Planning and conducting audits and assurance activities
- Reporting on HSEQ performance, trends, material risks and improvement priorities
- Representing OnSpec in HSEQ matters with clients, auditors and other external stakeholders
- Providing practical HSEQ input into tenders, proposals, contracts and operational planning
- Intervening in unsafe work and escalating material HSEQ risks when required

About You

You are an approachable and confident HSEQ professional who understands that effective safety leadership extends beyond systems and documentation. You enjoy working directly with people, can influence at all levels and are comfortable balancing frontline engagement with governance and compliance responsibilities.

You bring sound judgement, communicate clearly and take a practical, solutions-focused approach to improving safety and operational performance.





- A tertiary qualification or Certificate IV in Work Health and Safety, Quality Management or a related discipline
- Demonstrated experience managing an Integrated Management System
- Current C Class Driver’s Licence
- Strong knowledge of hazard identification, risk management, incident investigation and HSEQ assurance
- Ability to engage, coach and influence leaders and frontline employees
- Willingness to travel to operational and field locations as required
