About Birth Centre

The Birth Centre and Assessment Centre provides pregnancy, labour, and birth services to theRoyal Women’s Hospital. Our focus is on providing high quality, woman centred midwifery and obstetric care to women and newborns. The Birth Centre and Assessment Centre services are provided by a muldisciplinary team which include a team of Core Birth Centre Midwives.

About the role

As a Core Birth Centre Midwife you will be responsible forproviding collegial and collaborative clinical support to the multidisciplinary team working in the Birth Centre and Assessment Centre.

A regular day will see you:

- Provide and support direct patient care for all women accessing the Birth Centre / Assessment Centre
- Collaborate effectively and in a timely manner with medical staff in the provision of care, as well as other departments.
- Promote a culture within the Birth Centre which values multidisciplinary collaboration, clinical excellence, individualised care, and midwifery-led care where appropriate.

About you

You will be someone with excellent communication skills, a positive and inclusive attitude, and the ability to work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team.

You'll bring with you:

- Relevant clinical experience,



ideally 5 years consolidated Birth Centre experienceOR a commitment to consolidating yourBirth Centre / Assessment Centre skills and experience.
- Competence in advanced midwifery skills or evidence of working towards or willing to achieve these skills within 6-12 months of appointment (skills include: IV cannulation, ARM, FSE application, administration of PGE2 administration, insertion of cervical ripening balloon catheter, speculum examination, water immersion for labour and birth, perineal suturing, and newborn examination).
- Passion for provision of exceptional midwifery care for all women attending Birth Centre / Assessment Centre, including women seeking termination of pregnancy services.
- Level 3 FSEP (most recent).
