HR & OHS Coordinator - People, Safety & Culture

Are you an emerging HR professional who wants more than a purely administrative role?
This is an chance to step into a hands-on HR & OHS position where you’ll have genuine exposure across recruitment, employee experience, workplace health and safety, compliance and people systems, while working closely with the HR Manager and leaders across the business.
About the role
This is a diverse HR & OHS Officer position. You'll have genuine exposure across recruitment, employee experience, workplace health and safety, compliance and people systems while working closely with the HR Manager and leaders across the business. You'll play an important role in helping create a workplace where people can perform at their best and go home safe every day.
Key responsibilities
- Coordinate day-to-day HR administration and maintain accurate employee records and people systems, including Sage
- Support managers with position descriptions, recruitment requisitions and job advertisements
- Coordinate recruitment activities, including reference checks and background enquiries
- Prepare and maintain employment contracts, HR documentation, position descriptions and Fair Work Statements
- Coordinate end-to-end onboarding and induction activities
- Manage the casual contractor pool and act as the key contact for recruitment agencies
- Maintain confidential employee records and personnel histories with a high degree of accuracy
- Assist the Global HR Manager with the delivery of the broader HR strategy
- Help develop and implement initiatives that promote a safe, healthy and positive workplace
- Conduct regular workplace safety inspections and audits and recommend practical risk controls
- Promote safe work practices and a strong safety-first culture
- Coordinate safety training programs and support ongoing safety awareness
- Plan and co-chair the OHS Committee
- Coordinate emergency procedures and preparedness activities
- Administer the safety management system, ensuring safety matters are accurately recorded, monitored and closed out
- Review and update safety policies and procedures in consultation with the Global HR Manager
- Administer the Rapid Global contractor management system, including inductions, insurance, licensing and compliance requirements
- Liaise with contractors and relevant stakeholders to resolve and monitor compliance matters
- Coordinate waste management activities across local SDI sites
About you
- Recent graduate with a Bachelor of Business, majoring in Human Resources
- Certificate IV in Health & Safety
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
- Strong attention to detail and a high level of accuracy
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive employee information professionally
- Strong organisational skills and the ability to manage competing priorities and deadlines
- Good numerical and mathematical aptitude
- Strong computer literacy and confidence working with systems and Microsoft Office
- A practical, solutions-focused approach to HR and safety
- Experience within a manufacturing environment (highly regarded)
- Experience with HRIS or people management systems, particularly Sage (highly regarded)

An understanding of Australian employment legislation, workplace health and safety and Fair Work requirements.
