Apunipima Cape York Health Council is a community controlled Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander health service. Servicing the communities of Cape York, with the main office is located in Cairns, Apunipima delivers public health care, and social and emotional well-being care, to community members. Being a part of the team at Apunipima means helping us deliver essential services as well as building capacity in communities to manage their own health care needs.

Under section 25 of the Anti-Discrimination Act 1991, there is a genuine occupational requirement for the incumbent to be Indigenous to the Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander community.

About the Opportunity

This position will deliver direct and comprehensive primary health care services, consistent with the Apunipima Way and Model of Care. This position acts as a role model in the provision of holistic care and provides general clinical advice, as part of
a multidisciplinary team to improve health outcomes for the people of Cape York.

We are looking for Health Practitioners at various locations. The positions are FIFO from Cairns.

2 positions in Aurukun

1 position in Kowanyama

1 position Mossman Gorge

About You

To be successful in this role you will have:

- Certificate IV or Diploma in Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Primary Health Care Practice
- Current Health Practitioner registration with Australian Health Practitioners Regulation Agency (AHPRA)
- A minimum of four (4) years' experience as a Health Worker
- Demonstrated experience as a Health Worker within a clinical practice environment, with a sound understanding of integrated client care in a multidisciplinary team
- Ability to apply a high level of professional judgement,



knowledge and skills in the delivery of clinical care
- Advanced interpersonal skills, including the ability to work with a wide range of clients with diverse needs
- Understanding of the historical and contemporary issues that impact on Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander people and their communities, particularly in Cape York
- Ability to communicate sensitively and effectively with Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander people in accordance with community protocols and customs
