Public Sector People – North Melbourne VIC
A local council in the Northern suburbs is seeking an experienced Equity & Wellbeing Project Officer to join their team on a 3-month contract, supporting the delivery of key equity, inclusion and wellbeing initiatives.
This is a great chance for someone with experience across social policy, gender equality, community development or family violence prevention , looking to make an immediate impact within a busy local government environment.
The Role Working closely with the Senior Coordinator, you will provide project, operational and coordination support across the Equity, Inclusion and Wellbeing portfolio.
Key responsibilities
- Supporting the planning, delivery and evaluation of community-based projects and action plans
- Coordinating initiatives relating to gender equality and prevention of gender-based violence
- Supporting the delivery of 16 Days of Activism activities
- Supporting Gender/Equity Impact Assessments
- Providing project and administrative support to the Free From Violence program
- Coordinating events, including venues, catering, equipment and on-the-day logistics
- Supporting community and stakeholder engagement activities
- Facilitating and participating in external network meetings
- Maintaining accurate budgets, financial records and project documentation
- Managing competing priorities and ensuring projects are delivered within agreed timeframes

About You
To be successful in this role, you will have:
- Experience in project management and planning within a social policy or community-focused environment
- Demonstrated experience in gender equality and/or prevention of gender-based or family violence
- Experience undertaking Gender Impact Assessments or similar
- Strong stakeholder engagement and communication skills
- Experience supporting community programs, projects or events
- Strong organisational and administrative skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities
- Experience working with budgets, procurement and financial processes
- A strong understanding of equity, inclusion and wellbeing principles
- Local government experience is highly regarded
A relevant qualification in gender studies, public health, community development, public policy or a related field will be highly regarded.
