Cougar is seeking a proactive and experienced HSE & Training Advisor to join our Compliance and Safety team, supporting our manufacturing and heavy mining equipment workshop operations.

Based at Tomago, this role is responsible for fostering a strong safety culture within a high-risk industrial setting, partnering with operational teams to ensure safe work practices and compliance with health, safety and environmental requirements. The training component of this role is responsible for overseeing employee development and ensure that they receive effective training. You will align training initiatives with regulatory guidelines and strategic business objectives, promoting a culture of continuous learning, accountability, and ethical conduct.

Key Responsibilities

Safety

- Provide HSE advice and support across facilities
- Assist with incident reporting, investigations and root cause analyses
- Facilitate risk assessments and mentor employees in risk management processes
- Deliver training and coaching on hazard identification, JSAs, Take 5s, and other safety tools
- Participate in safety meetings and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives
- Utilise and promote the HSEQ Information Management System across the organisation
- Support corrective and preventative action programs arising from audits, inspections and investigations

Training





- Assess and identify the training needs of employees
- Design, develop and coordinate comprehensive training programs, workshops and educational materials
- Present training sessions to employees, delivering content in an engaging and informative manner
- Monitor and evaluate organisational compliance with relevant industry regulations, standards, and internal policies
- Schedule training sessions, organise venues and manage logistics
- Update existing training and compliance materials to reflect current industry standards, regulatory changes and internal policies

About You

- Certificate IV in Work Health and Safety or Certificate IV in Training and Assessment
- 3+ Years of experience in training, compliance management or corporate education
- Experience with Rapid or similar safety software packages
- Previous experience in the mining or drilling industry (underground experience highly desirable)
- Strong knowledge of HSE legislation and risk management practices.
- Excellent communication and problem-solving skills.
