Build solutions. Win real projects. Make real-world impact.
What if your next sales role was about more than hitting a target? At FloodFree Australia , you'll work with councils, engineers, builders, contractors, consultants and asset owners to solve real flood protection challenges — turning project opportunities into practical solutions that protect people, property and critical infrastructure.
We're looking for a technically minded sales professional who understands construction, infrastructure or technical project sales and knows how to turn opportunities into solutions.
About FloodFree Australia
FloodFree Australia is a leader in flood protection solutions, supplying innovative flood barriers and flood defence systems that help protect people, infrastructure, property and the environment.
As part of AWMA Water Control Solutions, we combine engineering expertise, innovative design and practical delivery to provide reliable flood mitigation solutions across Australia and internationally.
This is an opportunity to represent a genuinely innovative solution in a market where the work you do has a tangible impact.
The Role
This is a consultative sales role, not traditional sales. It combines technical understanding, the ability to manage customer expectations and commercial negotiation.
Working under the job title ‘Technical Sales Specialist’ , you’ll take ownership of project opportunities from initial enquiry through to contract award, working alongside customers to understand their challenges, develop the right solution with the support of our specialist engineering and production teams, build confidence in the FloodFree offering and convert opportunities into contracts. You’ll bring the technical credibility to understand the problem,
the commercial mindset to build the opportunity and the relationship skills to get it over the line.
You’ll primarily engage with customers via Teams, phone and email, with occasional travel for key customer meetings, site visits and industry events. The successful candidate will also be available to travel to our regional Victorian head office as mutually agreed.
What you'll do
- Take ownership of allocated opportunities, including solution development from enquiry and quotation through to contract award.
- Understand the project scope, including risks, challenges and commercial requirements.
- Present the value of the proposed FloodFree solution, including program certainty, technical benefits and overall project perks.
- Effectively manage customer expectations by understanding their needs, aligning solutions with operational capabilities and proactively resolving potential issues before they impact delivery.
- Build and maintain client relationships throughout the project lifecycle to support successful outcomes and repeat business.
- Proactively follow up opportunities and maintain momentum throughout the sales process.
- Negotiate project terms and facilitate contract negotiations that balance customer requirements with operational requirements.
- Keep CRM records and project information up to date.
- Monitor market activity, industry trends and competitor movements to identify new opportunities.
What you'll bring
- We’re looking for someone who can build credibility with customers, understand technical solutions and confidently drive sales opportunities forward.
- 5+ years' experience in professional technical sales, project sales or a related commercial role.
- Demonstrated ability to effectively manage client expectations by aligning project requirements, with strong communication and relationship-building skills.
- A practical, commercially minded approach with an understanding of construction and how projects come together.
- The ability to understand technical scope without needing an estimator or engineer, combined with strong problem-solving skills and a practical approach to overcoming challenges.
- The confidence to engage with customers and lead commercial discussions.
- Strong organisational skills and the comfortable to manage multiple live opportunities at once.
- A proactive and self-motivated approach with a solid focus on results. A strong sales and follow-up mentality: comfortable picking up the phone and driving an opportunity forward
- Experience using CRM systems, with Salesforce experience viewed favourably.
- Represent an industry-leading flood protection solution with real-world impact.
- Collaborate internally with experienced engineering, manufacturing and project teams to propose solutions.
- Work on projects that help protect communities and critical infrastructure.
- Work in a collaborative and supportive team where people work together to solve problems.
- Grow your career within a respected Australian engineering and manufacturing business.
If you're ready to take the next step in your career, develop solutions that protect communities and critical infrastructure, we'd like to hear from you.
