About the Role
The Management Accountant is responsible for providing internal financial analysis and reports, enabling key decision-making activities. Reporting into the Commercial Finance Manager, you will also work closely and collaborate with the Head of Drilling Operations and the Workshop Manager, generate integral reports to drive business processes and review project profitability. The Management Accountant needs to exercise integrity and confidentiality.
This role will work out of the Thornton Shared Services Office, based in Thornton NSW.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide a high degree of financial support to Cougar's facilities and operational needs
- Provide in-depth analysis on job profitability, detailed tasks and site profit & losses, including trend analysis across business units
- Provide costing analysis and advice to assess and evaluate business units and projects
- Develop reports that support senior managers to guide business decisions
- Maintain standard costs of inventory and labour to ensure they reflect actual costs
- Inventory and WIP analysis, including assessment of provisions for obsolescence
- Develop cost models that inform the preparation of budgets, tenders and forecasts
- Develop and maintain strong and effective relationships with internal stakeholders
- Review the financial integrity of proposed projects and monitor ongoing performance
- Interactive support with the finance team to achieve further group accounting goals
- Preparation of monthly reporting packs
What We're Looking For
- Degree in Accounting, Commerce, Business or equivalent
- Working towards a professional accounting body, such as CPA or CA
- 2+ years' experience in a commercial/industrial environment or qualified accounting firm
- Ability to interpret and analyse legislation, policy, financial data and reports to provide recommendations and advice
- Demonstrated skills and experience in building strong, collaborative partnerships with a range of internal stakeholders
- Developed knowledge and experience with accounting practices, systems and processes
- High proficiency in Excel
