Salary

AUD 90,243 – 98,861 Annual Gross

Roles and Responsibilities

- Lead Linux/Unix server operations for Sydney-based customer environment, including build, run, patching, monitoring and lifecycle management.
- Own RHEL/Linux and Unix operational activities including user/group management, filesystem/LVM, services, package management, kernel/OS patching and performance tuning.
- Coordinate server support across physical, virtual and cloud-hosted workloads aligned to Windows/Linux/Unix, VMware/ESX, AWS, Azure, GCP and OCI scope.
- Oversee 24x7 monitoring, incident, change, problem, service request, asset/configuration and availability management activities.
- Drive patch planning, pre/post validation, vulnerability remediation support, rollback planning and operational risk tracking.
- Support critical incidents, RCA, permanent corrective actions and major change implementation during business-critical windows.
- Coordinate with storage, backup, database, network, security and application teams for end-to-end issue resolution and service continuity.
- Maintain ServiceNow/CMDB accuracy, server inventory, SOPs, runbooks, knowledge articles and transition documentation.
- Prepare shift rosters, ensure smooth 24x7 coverage and drive governance forums with customer and internal stakeholders.




- Train L1/L2/L3 colleagues on Linux/Unix operational procedures, automation scripts, monitoring actions and customer-specific runbooks.

- Support RFP/solution estimate inputs for Linux/Unix run services, transition and transformation scope.
- Drive automation for health checks, patch reporting, log collection, standard service requests and self-healing opportunities using Ansible/Jenkins/GitHub or equivalent tools.

- Experience in running operations with ITIL processes / ITIL certification preferred.
- Excellent analytical and troubleshooting skills with robust ownership during P1/P2 incidents.
- Strong verbal and written communication; able to interact with customer, tower leads and offshore teams.
- Ability to identify service improvements, automation opportunities, incident reduction and knowledge reuse.
- Willingness and flexibility to learn new technologies, scale up quickly and adapt to transition needs.

Preferred

Mandatory

Linux administration, Unix administration, Red Hat Enterprise Linux, Solaris/AIX fundamentals, shell scripting, patching, server build/support, incident/change/problem management, performance monitoring and troubleshooting

Intermediate Level

VMware/ESX, Windows interoperability and data centre operations

Good to Have

Red Hat OpenShift, Ansible/Terraform automation, Satellite/patch tooling, Nagios/ELK/OpenNMS/Splunk monitoring, ServiceNow ITSM/CMDB, AWS/Azure/GCP/OCI cloud workloads, container platform operations
