Victoria Road Maintenance Contract

Help shape the safety culture on one of Victoria's most significant road maintenance contracts.

Ventia has been awarded the Victorian Road Maintenance Contract (VRMC) by Transport for Victoria, delivering essential maintenance and operational services across Victoria's road network.

We're seeking an experienced Safety Advisor to partner with operational teams and leaders across our Road Maintenance operations. This is an opportunity to play a key role in influencing safe behaviours, supporting frontline teams, and driving continuous improvement across critical infrastructure works that keep Victorian communities connected.

About The Role

Reporting to the SHEQ Manager, you'll provide expert safety advice, guidance and support to operational teams delivering road maintenance and construction activities.

Working closely with leaders and frontline employees, you'll help embed a positive safety culture, ensure compliance with safety requirements, and identify opportunities to continuously improve safety performance.

This is a hands-on role that combines field engagement, coaching, risk management, auditing and reporting.

Key Responsibilities

Partner with operational teams to promote safe work practices and positive safety behavioursProvide practical health and safety advice across maintenance and construction activitiesConduct site inspections,



audits and safety observationsIdentify hazards, risks and opportunities for improvementSupport the implementation of Ventia's SHEQ systems, programs and proceduresAssist with incident investigations and corrective actionsDeliver safety communications, toolbox talks and awareness initiativesMonitor compliance with legislative, contractual and company requirementsAnalyse trends and provide meaningful safety performance reportingContribute to a culture where safety remains a core value and operational priority

About You

To be successful in this role, you will bring:

Previous experience in a Safety Advisor, Safety Coordinator or SHEQ positionExperience working within civil construction, infrastructure, roads, transport, utilities or a similar environmentStrong knowledge of health and safety legislation and risk management practicesExperience conducting audits, inspections and incident investigationsThe ability to build trust and influence stakeholders at all levelsStrong communication, coaching and relationship-building skillsA proactive approach to identifying and solving safety challengesCertificate IV in Work Health and Safety or equivalent (desirable)
