About the role
We're looking for an enthusiastic and motivated IT Assistant to join our Melbourne-based IT team.
Based at our South Yarra Head Office, this is a fantastic opportunity for someone at the beginning of their IT career who is eager to learn, develop their technical skills and gain hands‑on experience in a rapid‑paced, multi‑site business.
Working alongside our experienced IT team,
you'll provide day‑to‑day technology support to our Head Office and cinema teams while developing practical skills across a broad range of enterprise IT functions.
No two days are the same - you could be troubleshooting an issue for one of our cinema teams, setting up a new laptop, assisting with user access or supporting our senior IT team with infrastructure and security projects.
In this role you will:
- Provide first‑line IT support to Head Office and cinema teams.
- Troubleshoot hardware, software, network and peripheral issues.
- Set up, image and deploy laptops, desktops and mobile devices.
- Maintain accurate IT asset records and assist with hardware lifecycle management.
- Assist with user accounts, access, password resets and Multi‑Factor Authentication (MFA).
- Support the IT team with the setup and maintenance of technology across Palace locations.
- Assist senior IT staff with infrastructure, systems and security‑related tasks.
- Help identify and resolve technology issues while delivering friendly and responsive support to users.
- Build your knowledge across Palace's IT environment and contribute to the continuous improvement of our systems and processes.
About you
You don't need to know everything about IT already. We're looking for someone with a genuine interest in technology, a natural ability to problem‑solve and, most importantly, the enthusiasm to learn and build a career in IT.
You'll ideally have:
- A genuine interest in pursuing a long‑term career in IT.
- Strong troubleshooting and problem‑solving skills.
- Excellent communication and customer service skills.
- High attention to detail and the ability to stay organised.
- A basic understanding of Windows environments, networking and IT hardware.
- An eagerness to learn and develop within a fast‑paced technology environment.
- A proactive attitude and willingness to ask questions, take initiative and get involved.
- The ability to communicate technical information clearly to people with varying levels of IT knowledge.
Previous IT experience or relevant study will be viewed favourably, but attitude, curiosity and a willingness to learn are just as important.
Why join Palace?
- Build your IT career with Australia's leading independent cinema group.
- Gain hands‑on experience across a diverse, multi‑site technology environment.
- Learn directly from an experienced IT team.
- Develop practical skills across hardware, networking, user support, infrastructure and security.
- Genuine opportunities for career development and progression.
- Complimentary movie tickets and generous food & beverage discounts.
- Join a passionate and collaborative national team.
- Be part of a culture that values learning, creativity and continuous improvement.
This is a full‑time position, working five days per week, based at our South Yarra Head Office.
If you're passionate about technology, enjoy solving problems and are looking for an opportunity to turn your interest in IT into a rewarding career, we'd love to hear from you.
