Do you want to take the next step in your Work Health and Safety(WHS) Career? The Justice and Community Safety Directorate (JACS) is seeking an experienced WHS subject matter expert, to take on the critical role of our Director of Safety. Reporting to the Senior Director of Safety and Industrial Relations, the position plays a critical role in leading and managing the JACS WHS team.

JACS cover a wide range of work types, from front line to corporate; from office based work to 24/7 shift work JACS is engaged in it. A diverse and vibrant workplace that supports Paramedics, Judges, Correctional Officers, Forensic Medicine, Firefighters, Legislative drafting, Community Corrections, Rural Fire Service, Mechanics, Prosecutors, State Emergency Service, Lawyers and many more (just to name a few). People are the reason JACS do our work, and our primary drive in WHS is making sure our workforce is safe.

We are looking for someone who is experienced in:

- WHS strategy, governance and leadership;
- Stakeholder engagement and collaboration;
- understanding psychosocial risk management and occupational violence;
- Safety Leadership across high risk workplaces;
- A strong understanding of Cultural Safety;
- Leadership in Legislative and Regulatory Compliance (including the move to ISO45001);




- Reporting and data analytics;
- Auditing and audit framework.

Eligibility/Other requirements:

- While not mandatory, it is highly desirable for candidates to hold formal qualifications in:
- Cert IV or higher, in Work Health and Safety;
- ICAM Lead Investigators Course.

- While not mandatory, it is highly desirable for applicants to have an understanding of the principles of Cultural Safety.

Notes:

A Merit Pool will be established from this selection process and will be used to fill vacancies over the next 12 months.
