This is an exciting opportunity to join a large, multi-channel Australian retail business at a pivotal stage of its transformation journey in a 6-month contract role with strong potential to convert into a permanent opportunity.

The Role

As Commercial Finance Lead, you will act as a trusted commercial partner to both finance and operational stakeholders. You will provide financial insight, performance analysis and strategic recommendations while contributing to major transformation initiatives designed to strengthen reporting, forecasting and business performance.

This role offers broad exposure across commercial finance, planning, investment analysis and process improvement, making it well suited to a commercially focused finance professional who enjoys combining strategic thinking with hands‑on delivery.

Key Responsibilities

- Partner with senior finance and business leaders to analyse performance and provide meaningful commercial insights.
- Lead budgeting, forecasting and planning activities, identifying risks, opportunities and key performance drivers.
- Develop financial models, business cases and investment assessments to support strategic decision-making.
- Drive finance transformation initiatives, improving reporting, forecasting and commercial analytics capabilities.
- Identify and implement process improvement opportunities to enhance efficiency, governance and decision support.




- Provide clear commercial recommendations to stakeholders based on financial and operational outcomes.
- Build strong cross-functional relationships and influence senior stakeholders across multiple business units.
- Support the development of future finance operating models, frameworks and best‑practice processes.

About You

You are a commercially astute finance professional who enjoys partnering with stakeholders, influencing outcomes and contributing to meaningful business change. You are equally comfortable operating strategically and delivering hands‑on outcomes in dynamic and evolving environments.

You will bring:

- 5-10+ years' experience in Commercial Finance, FP&A;, Finance Business Partnering, Commercial Management or related finance leadership roles.
- Strong experience within retail, FMCG, consumer products or similarly fast‑paced environments.
- Advanced financial analysis, modelling, forecasting and performance management capability.
- Demonstrated experience developing business cases and evaluating strategic investment opportunities.
- Strong stakeholder engagement, communication and influencing skills.
- Experience leading or contributing to finance transformation and continuous improvement initiatives.
- The ability to work independently and navigate ambiguity within changing business environments.
