The Role

We're looking for an experienced Systems Engineer to join a Defence program office in Canberra, supporting the modernisation and sustainment of a critical secure communications capability. This is a great prospect for a senior engineer to exercise real technical authority – providing advice, conducting safety analysis and shaping engineering decisions on a complex, high-assurance program. You'll work closely with engineering teams and Commonwealth counterparts, mentoring developing engineers while ensuring delivered systems meet requirements and regulatory frameworks.

Key Responsibilities

- Perform complex engineering activities and provide technical advice under broad direction
- Exercise assigned engineering authorities and technical regulatory delegations
- Conduct hazard analysis and other systems safety activities
- Assess technical and design packages, including scoping, planning and review
- Mentor developing engineers and support knowledge transfer to Commonwealth counterparts





Required

- Current NV1 security clearance
- Senior engineering experience within a complex Defence workplace
- Understanding of the One Defence Capability System (ODCS)
- Bachelor of Engineering (or equivalent) with Professional Engineer registration
- Ability to work onsite a minimum of 3 days per week
