We’re looking for GPs in Melbourne specialising in paediatrics, for a unique urgent care GP job. Our client is operating a hospital-integrated urgent care GP role based within the Emergency Department of the leading Children’s Hospital in Melbourne. If you’ve been searching for urgent care GP Jobs in Melbourne or paediatric GP jobs, this is one of the few roles that puts you inside a tertiary children’s hospital rather than a stand‑alone clinic.

Unlike most urgent care GP jobs in Melbourne, this role works closely with the Emergency Department and specialises in paediatric presentations, with exceptional support from paediatricians and the ED team. Every child is triaged by hospital nursing staff before being directed to see the GP, with Urgent Care GPs seeing Category 4 and 5 presentations only.

- Fully Triaged Model All presentations are assessed by an intake nurse using standard Category 1–5 triage. Cat 4–5 presentations are directed to the Urgent Care GP stream, so the cases you see are appropriately matched to a GP-level scope of practice.
- Safety Net Built In If a child deteriorates or presents more complexly than expected, they can be moved straight back into the Emergency Department. Practitioners are never left managing a sick child in isolation.

- Attractive Hourly Rate Minimum rate of $220 per hour.
- Ongoing, Versatile ShiftsOngoing afternoon and evening shifts available 2–3 times per week, with flexibility around which days you work. Other shifts may also become available in the future.

Site Hours & Shift Structure

Ongoing afternoon and evening shifts are currently available, 2–3 times per week, with flexibility around which days you work.

Current shift: 4:30pm – 10:30pm

Other shifts may become available in the future.

Role is Suitable for GPs with

- Specialist Registration / FRACGP
- Genuine experience working with young children
- Confidence working within a hospital-integrated, team-based model
