Carers Victoria is the state’s peak for-purpose organisation dedicated to ensuring that the 1 million unpaid carers across Victoria are understood, recognised, and supported. We provide free advice, deliver events and education, connect carers to vital respite activities, and analyse data to influence systemic change. Our mission is to ensure that all unpaid carers are recognised, valued, and supported. We’re focused on change for purpose and continue to evolve so we can better meet the needs of carers. We’re looking for a Regional Carer Navigator (RCN) to lead local efforts in the Western Metro Melbourne.
About the role
Carers Victoria is looking for an enthusiastic and results-driven person to join our Regional Carer Engagement Team to team as our Western Metro Regional Carer Navigator. This part time role will suit someone who has experience in designing and delivering group programs and building connections and referral pathways between organisations.

- There may be some occasional travel within greater Melbourne and regional Victoria
What you’ll be doing
- Planning, designing & facilitating inclusive, group-based events and activities that engage and empower carers
- Strengthening partnerships and referral pathways to make it easier for carers to get information, advice and assistance when they need it and increasing awareness of Carers Victoria
- Regularly reviewing, reporting on, and adapting the program we offer.
About you
You will bring the following skills and experience to the role:
- Experience planning, coordinating, and delivering group activities, events, and programs within local communities.
- Understanding of, or the ability to quickly develop an understanding of, the challenges and needs of unpaid carers.
- Demonstrated ability to build and maintain effective partnerships across community, health, and local government sectors.
- Ability to work independently, manage competing priorities, and contribute positively within a multidisciplinary team environment.
- Strong organisational and administrative skills,
including experience using CRM systems and the Microsoft Office suite.
- A person-centred and inclusive approach, with respect for diverse backgrounds, experiences, and identities.
- Proactive, self-motivated, and able to use sound judgement and initiative in day-to-day work.
- Highly developed verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to engage effectively with carers, stakeholders, and professionals.
- Commitment to child safety, cultural safety, inclusion, and fostering connected and supportive communities.
Qualifications
- Tertiary qualifications in in Social Work, Counselling, Psychology, Community Development, Community services, Event Management or a related discipline, orsignificant experiencein a comparable community-facing role
- Valid driver’s licence (As travel is an essential part of the role, access to a personal vehicle is required).
- Current First Aid Certificate or willingness to undertake training
- Willingness to provide a current Working with Children Check and undertake apolicecheck prior to commencement

- 12-month fixed-term, part-time position (0.6 FTE, three days per week: Monday to Wednesday), with the prospect to increase to 0.8 FTE until October/ November to cover staff leave.
- Salary: $96,893 -gross pro rata+ plus superannuation, with some flexibility to negotiate based on experience and qualifications
- Not-for-profit salary packaging available
- Hybrid working arrangement: The successful candidate will be required to attend the Melbourne CBD office on a weekly basis and travel regularly across their region (This role may suit someone who is located within the region or within a commutable distance). As travel is an essential part of the role, access to a personal vehicle is required.
- Travel expenses will be reimbursed in accordance with company policy. Occasional travel within greater Melbourne and regional Victoria may be necessary and may involve overnight accommodation.
