General Manager - Executive Leadership, Member Impact and Systems Change

Nothing about us without us
Queenslanders with Disability Network (QDN) is a state-wide organisation of, by and for people with diverse disability.

QDN’s work is centred around a strong state-wide network of people across Queensland and more than 30 peer support groups that inform, connect, lead and influence change. QDN members are at the centre of our work and governance as a member-led organisation, shaping, delivering and leading priorities, programs and systemic advocacy, and contributing to a more inclusive Queensland.

QDN works alongside communities, government, business, industry and the broader disability sector to advance disability rights, strengthen the leadership of people with disability, and influence the policies, services and systems that affect their lives.

The opportunity
QDN is seeking an accomplished and values-aligned General Manager to work closely with the CEO and provide leadership across the organisation.
As a key member of the Executive Leadership Team and 2IC to the CEO, you will help translate QDN’s strategy into action, strengthen organisational capability and lead a diverse portfolio of programs, projects and strategic initiatives.

The role brings together executive leadership, portfolio performance, organisational sustainability, innovation, membership and peer leadership, and strategic stakeholder engagement. It is an opportunity to help shape QDN’s future while ensuring its work remains grounded in the voices, experiences and leadership of people with disability.

You will represent the CEO when required and provide trusted advice, constructive challenge and practical support across organisational priorities. Working collaboratively with QDN’s leaders, employees, members, peer leaders, partners and Board, you will help build the capability, relationships and sustainable foundations required for QDN’s continued impact.
Your key priorities will include

- Acting as a trusted 2IC and strategic partner to the CEO, contributing to organisation-wide leadership, planning, decision-making, governance and risk management.
- Leading a portfolio of programs,

projects and workstreams, with accountability for quality, performance, outcomes, budgets and contractual commitments.
- Strengthening organisation-wide planning, prioritisation and performance reporting so that strategy is translated into coordinated and measurable action.
- Identifying and progressing strategic growth and business development, funding and partnership opportunities aligned with QDN’s purpose, values and capacity.
- Supporting innovation and the development of new approaches, programs and initiatives that advance QDN’s purpose and member-led impact.
- Providing strategic leadership across membership, peer leadership and QDN’s statewide peer support network.
- Ensuring the voices, experience and leadership of QDN members meaningfully shape and inform organisational priorities, program design, advocacy and systemic influence.
- Building productive, high-trust relationships with government, community, business, industry, funders and sector partners.
- Representing QDN and the CEO at key meetings, events, forums and stakeholder engagements.
- Leading, supporting and developing people while fostering an inclusive, accountable and collaborative organisational culture.

About you
You are an experienced senior leader who can operate confidently at both strategic and operational levels. You bring sound judgement, organisational maturity and the ability to work alongside a CEO as a trusted, capable and highly collaborative 2IC.

You are likely to offer:

- Significant executive or senior leadership experience within a complex, purpose-led, membership, advocacy, community or human services setting.
- Demonstrated success leading multiple programs, projects or service portfolios and delivering outcomes across competing priorities.

- Strong organisational and commercial acumen, including experience developing partnerships, securing funding and strengthening organisational sustainability.
- The ability to translate strategy into clear priorities, coordinated delivery and measurable results.
- Experience building and maintaining influential relationships across government, community, business and sector stakeholders.
- Strong people leadership capability, with a record of building confidence, accountability, collaboration and performance.
- Highly developed communication, influencing and representation skills.
- Demonstrated understanding of co-design, peer leadership and member-led organisations.
- A strong commitment to human rights, inclusion and the leadership and citizenship of people with disability.

Knowledge of the disability policy and service environment would be highly regarded. Relevant tertiary qualifications may be beneficial; however, leadership capability, values alignment and demonstrated experience will be central to the appointment.

Why join QDN?
This is a significant leadership opportunity within an organisation whose work is shaped and led by people with disability.
You will work alongside a highly respected CEO, committed leaders, employees, members and peer leaders to strengthen QDN’s organisational capability and sustainability, create opportunities for members, and influence positive systems change across Queensland.

QDN is committed to an inclusive and accessible recruitment process. Applications from people with disability are strongly encouraged, and adjustments can be made throughout the recruitment process. If you require adjustments or alternative formats, please let us know.

Applications close 18th of September. QDN reserves the right to appoint at any time.
QDN believes there should be nothing about us without us. We inform, connect, lead and influence change.
