About The Chance
Eager to showcase your leadership skills in a unique opportunity? NSW Health Pathology are seeking a Duty Supervisor to join the Central Specimen Reception department at Randwick in a temporary full time capacity. The position will run until 30th June 2027 with a chance of ongoing employment. This role operates across a 7-day rotating roster, with start times between 6:45 am and 2:00 pm, including occasional overnight shifts. Rosters are determined by the operational needs of the laboratory and may be adjusted accordingly. Weekend and public holiday shifts form part of the roster.
What You'll Be Doing
- Ensuring the Specimen Reception area is run efficiently, cost-effectively and meets laboratory best practice in ensuring optimum turn‑around-times for results.
- Responsible for the supervision of staff within the Section and assigning day‑to‑day activities to the team.
- Ensure the prompt reception, data entry and pre‑analytical preparation of pathology samples within the Department and supervision of the team responsible for these services.

- Demonstrated experience in a Pathology Specimen Reception area with a sound understanding of all procedures.
- Demonstrated strong leadership skills with the capacity to lead, motivate and manage conflict whilst contributing to building a team focused on providing high quality customer service.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, including the ability to consult, negotiate and liaise effectively with a diverse range of people
- Demonstrated ability to manage competing priorities and meet set deadlines whilst ensuring the laboratory meets best practice.
- Experience working within an environment requiring sensitivity and consideration in relation to confidentiality and privacy.
- Demonstrated knowledge of medical terminology.
- Willingness and ability to participate in a 24/7 rotating shift roster, including weekends, public holidays, night shifts, and oncall as required.
