About the role
The Site Engineer is responsible for overseeing engineering operations, site inspections, quality assurance, and compliance during airport-related projects. This role involves both site-based work and periods spent at the main office on the Gold Coast when not on active projects. The Site Engineer ensures the effective delivery of projects by following the highest standards of engineering practices, while adhering to ISO 9001 (Quality Management), ISO 45001 (Occupational Health & Safety), and ISO 14001 (Environmental Management) standards. The engineer will also collaborate with cross-functional teams, manage on-site teams, and ensure that projects are delivered on time, within budget, and with a focus on safety and sustainability.
Key responsibilities
- Oversee and manage site inspections to ensure that works are completed to specification, following quality assurance procedures in line with ISO 9001
- Provide technical support and guidance to the construction team, ensuring that engineering solutions meet project specifications, drawings, and industry standards
- Manage on-site operations, ensuring safe and efficient delivery of work, aligning with ISO 45001 for health and safety management
- Liaise with contractors, subcontractors, and project managers to ensure smooth execution of works, including managing timelines, resolving technical issues, and ensuring safety measures are in place
- Ensure that all site works adhere to relevant laws, safety regulations, and environmental standards (ISO 14001),
including waste management, noise, dust, and emissions control measures
- Take ownership of project assignments across airport infrastructure, including taxiways, runways, aircraft aprons, roadways, bridges, terminal buildings, concourses, parking facilities, heating and cooling systems, airfield fuelling, and other ancillary facilities
- Independently organise and prioritise work assignments, taking full responsibility for the planning and execution of tasks
- Supervise and direct a wide range of activities within the work area, including both routine and complex tasks
- Maintain comprehensive site records, including daily reports, materials, permits, safety data, and environmental compliance reports
- Prepare and submit regular progress reports on project status, safety compliance, quality assurance, and environmental management
About you
- Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering 5+ years in a similar role
- At least 3–5 years of experience in an engineering role, preferably in airport infrastructure, construction, or heavy civil engineering
- Experience in working in highly regulated environments (airports, construction sites)
- Familiarity with working in environments that require adherence to ISO standards
- Experience with health, safety, and environmental management on site
- Robust technical knowledge and ability to solve engineering problems on-site
- Familiarity with AutoCAD, MS Project, MS Office Suite and other engineering software
