Painter / Carpenter for Deck Restoration

Altar Decks is a specialist decking company servicing the Gold Coast, working across new deck builds, deck renovations, repairs and complete restorations.

We have dedicated New Builds and Restoration teams, and we are currently hiring for our Deck Restoration Team.

This role is focused entirely on existing timber decks, restoring and repairing tired or weathered decking through sanding, chemical washing, coatings and minor timber repairs.

It is a great fit for an experienced painter, carpenter, decking tradesperson or skilled trade assistant who enjoys hands-on work and wants to develop expertise in a specialised area.

What You'll Be Doing

Your day-to-day work will include:

- Sanding timber decks using professional floor and edge sanding equipment
- Chemical washing and pressure cleaning
- Preparing timber before coating
- Applying deck oils, stains, paints and protective coatings
- Replacing damaged decking boards
- Completing minor repairs to joists, bearers, framing and subframes
- General decking and timber repairs
- Using power tools and specialist restoration equipment
- Preparing and protecting worksites
- Keeping jobs clean, organised and safe
- Working in a small crew to deliver a high-quality finished result

All work is carried out on existing timber decking and outdoor timber structures across the Gold Coast.

What We're Looking For

You will ideally have:

- Experience in painting, carpentry,



decking, timber restoration or similar trade work
- Confidence using power tools and trade equipment
- Valuable preparation and finishing skills
- Strong attention to detail
- Pride in quality workmanship
- Reliability and punctuality
- A positive attitude and willingness to learn
- The physical ability to work outdoors
- A current White Card
- A driver's licence and reliable transport

Own basic tools are preferred but not essential.

You don’t need previous deck restoration experience or to be skilled in both painting and carpentry. If you have strong experience in either trade, are confident on the tools and take pride in quality work, we can provide the training you need in our systems, equipment and restoration processes.
