About the role

S and L McPhee Cabinetmakers is seeking a skilled and experienced Cabinetmaker to join our established team in Cairns, Queensland. This is a full-time position based at our Cairns workshop (QLD 4870). As a Cabinetmaker, you will play a crucial high-quality custom cabinetry and joinery work that meets our clients' exacting standards. This position offers the opportunity to work on diverse projects, from residential kitchens and bathrooms.

Key responsibilities

- Design and construct custom cabinetry and joinery pieces using hand tools, power tools and machinery

- Read and interpret technical drawings and client specifications to ensure accurate project delivery

- Operate cabinet-making machinery including table saws, planers, routers, sanders safely and effectively

- Assemble, fit and finish cabinetry.

- Install completed cabinetry at client locations, taking measurements and making on-site adjustments as needed

- Maintain workshop tools, machinery and equipment in positive working order

- Collaborate with the team to meet project deadlines whilst maintaining quality standards

- Adhere to health and safety regulations and workshop practices

What we're looking for

- Formal qualification in cabinetmaking, furniture making or joinery (tradesperson or equivalent)

- Demonstrated experience working as a professional cabinetmaker, ideally with 3+ years in the industry





- Advanced proficiency with hand tools and traditional cabinetmaking techniques

- Strong competency in operating woodworking machinery and power tools safely

- Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and specifications accurately

- Excellent attention to detail and commitment to producing work of the highest quality

- Strong problem-solving skills and ability to adapt to custom project requirements

- Reliable, punctual and able to work effectively both independently and as part of a team

- Current understanding of workplace health and safety requirements

- Valid driver's licence is desirable for potential site visits
