To support that growth we are looking for an experienced Operations Manager to lead our Kalgoorlie branch and bulk fuel transport operations across the Goldfields region.

The Role

This is a hands-on leadership role for someone who enjoys being close to the operation and making things happen.

As Operations Manager, you will take overall responsibility for the safe, efficient and commercially successful operation of the Kalgoorlie branch, leading a team of professional HC/MC drivers and operational staff ensuring our fleet and people are performing at their best.

You will be equally comfortable in the yard talking with drivers, reviewing fleet performance, meeting customers, managing operational challenges or sitting down with the numbers to understand the branch's financial performance.

Key Responsibilities

- Lead a strong, proactive safety culture where safety is genuinely prioritised over operational pressure.

- Ensure compliance with all relevant heavy vehicle, dangerous goods, workplace health and safety and Chain of Responsibility obligations.

- Maintain high standards of driver fitness, fatigue management, vehicle safety and operational compliance.

- Lead incident investigations and ensure corrective actions are implemented.





- Promote a culture where employees actively identify and report hazards, risks and opportunities for improvement.

- Lead, mentor and develop a team of professional HC/MC drivers and operational staff.

- Establish clear performance and behavioural expectations.

- Build a positive, accountable and respectful team culture.

- Oversee and support workshop performance.

- Address performance and workplace issues fairly, consistently and promptly.

- Manage the day-to-day operation of the Kalgoorlie branch and regional bulk fuel transport activities.

- Optimise driver, vehicle and resource allocation to maximise productivity and customer service.

- Manage rostering, scheduling and operational priorities.

- Take responsibility for the branch P&L; and operational budget.

- Develop strong relationships with key commercial, agricultural and regional customers.

- Represent GSFS professionally within the Kalgoorlie and broader Goldfields community.

About You

Essential

- Minimum 3 years' experience in transport operations management.

- Proven experience managing drivers and operational teams.

- Experience in regional and/or linehaul transport operations.

- Strong understanding of heavy vehicle compliance and Main Roads WA requirements.

- Demonstrated experience managing operational KPIs and performance.

- Sound understanding of budgets, financial reporting and P&L; management.

- Experience managing fleet maintenance, utilisation and productivity.

- Solid problem-solving and decision-making skills.

- Excellent communication and customer relationship skills.

- A demonstrated commitment to safety and compliance.

- The confidence to have difficult conversations and hold people accountable.

- A practical, hands-on approach to leadership.

Desirable

- Bulk liquid, fuel or dangerous goods experience will be highly regarded.

- Hold a valid MC license.
