Your new company A well-established organisation operating across multiple Australian states is seeking an experienced Senior Payroll Officer to join its collaborative payroll team. Working within a fast-paced environment, you'll play a key role in delivering accurate payroll services to a large and diverse workforce while contributing to ongoing payroll operations and process improvements.
Your new role Reporting to the Payroll Manager, you will join a team of four payroll professionals and take ownership of end-to-end payroll processing across a complex workforce. This position offers an immediate start, initially on a temporary basis, with the potential to become permanent for the right candidate.
Key responsibilities
- Processing weekly and fortnightly payrolls for approximately 800 employees
- Managing payroll across multiple Australian states
- Interpreting and applying multiple Enterprise Agreements and Awards
- Processing payroll for both blue-collar and white-collar workforces
- Managing payroll queries and resolving discrepancies in a timely manner
- Ensuring compliance with payroll legislation, taxation, superannuation and award requirements
- Assisting with payroll reporting,
reconciliations and end-of-period activities
- Supporting continuous improvement initiatives within payroll processes
What you'll need to succeed
To be successful in this role, you will demonstrate:
- Previous experience as a Senior Payroll Officer or highly experienced Payroll Officer
- Proven experience managing complex, high-volume payrolls
- Strong understanding of Awards, Enterprise Agreements and payroll legislation
- Experience processing payrolls across multiple states
- Ability to work accurately in a fast-paced environment with competing priorities
- Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills
- Strong attention to detail and problem-solving capabilities
