- Employment type - Temporary Full time, up to 30 June 2027 with possibility of extension
- Salary - $133,348 pa - 146,945 pa plus employer's contribution to superannuation and annual leave loading
Lead the development of innovative data solutions, performance measures and reporting products that solve complex business challenges.
Your role
Join a dynamic team where your analytical skills will help shape evidence‑based decisions and improve outcomes across New South Wales. In this role, you will develop, analyse, interpret and report on data to support key initiatives and service delivery across the Department of Communities and Justice. This role is suited to an experienced analyst who is ready to take on more complex work, provide specialist advice, lead high‑quality analysis and reporting, and contribute to improvements in performance monitoring, governance and decision‑making.
Working with a range of stakeholders, you will transform complex information into meaningful insights that drive strategic planning, policy development, and continuous improvement, contributing to better services for the people and communities of NSW.
What you'll do
Make a real impact by turning data into insights that help shape services and outcomes for communities across NSW.
- Deliver high‑quality performance reporting, analysis and insights to support strategic decision‑making.
- Extract, analyse and visualise data using tools such as Google BigQuery, Tableau and Code OSS.
- Partner with internal and external stakeholders to identify performance trends, opportunities and risks.
- Contribute to data quality, governance and continuous improvement initiatives to strengthen organisational capability.
- Work in a collaborative, flexible hybrid environment, balancing work from home and our up-to-date Parramatta Square workplace.
What we're looking for
We are seeking an experienced, thoughtful and solutions‑focused analyst who can lead complex analysis,
translate data into clear insights, and provide evidence‑based advice that supports service planning, performance monitoring and continuous improvement.
- Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills, with the ability to interpret complex information, identify key issues and develop practical, evidence‑based recommendations.
- Demonstrated experience undertaking and leading data extraction, analysis, interpretation and reporting using internal and external datasets.
- Ability to design, develop or improve reporting tools, performance measures, governance processes and analytical products that support organisational capability and decision‑making.
- Strong communication skills, with the ability to present complex findings clearly and tailor advice for different audiences, including managers, program areas and other stakeholders.
- A proactive approach to quality, continuous improvement and innovation, with the ability to identify data quality issues, improve processes and strengthen the useability of data for reporting and analysis.
Knowledge which would be viewed favourable (but not pre‑requisites)
- Knowledge and experience using the DCJ internal client information systems and/or data warehouses in child protection, housing and homelessness
- Understanding of Child Protection, OOHC, Earlier Intervention, Social Housing or Homelessness
