Our client is an established Victorian builder delivering a diverse range of commercial and retail construction projects. With a solid pipeline of opportunities, the business is seeking an experienced Estimator to join its pre-construction team in Melbourne’s south-east.
The Role
As Estimator, you will manage tenders from initial review through to final submission. You will prepare accurate and competitive estimates, coordinate subcontractor pricing and identify the key risks and opportunities associated with each project. You will work across a mix of new-build, refurbishment and fit-out projects within the commercial and retail sectors.
Key Responsibilities
- Review tender documentation, drawings and specifications
- Prepare detailed cost plans, estimates and tender submissions
- Complete accurate quantity take-offs and trade scopes
- Issue subcontractor and supplier tender packages
- Analyse and compare subcontractor quotations
- Identify project risks, exclusions and value-management opportunities
- Attend site inspections, tender briefings and clarification meetings
- Develop construction methodologies and preliminary programmes
- Work closely with the construction and leadership teams during tender reviews
- Assist with tender handovers following successful submissions
- Maintain subcontractor and supplier relationships
About You
- Previous estimating experience within commercial construction
- Experience preparing tenders for retail, commercial, fit-out or refurbishment projects
- Strong understanding of construction methodology and trade pricing
- Ability to interpret drawings, specifications and tender documentation
- Established relationships with Victorian subcontractors are advantageous
- Strong attention to detail and commercial awareness
- Effective communication, negotiation and time-management skills
- Experience using estimating and construction software
- Relevant construction, quantity surveying or building qualification
