This is not a traditional surveying role.

As Senior Surveyor, you will play a key role in delivering accurate survey services while actively contributing to mine planning, operational improvement projects, technology implementation and data-driven decision making. Working closely with technical and operational leaders, you will help shape the future direction of the mine through innovative surveying practices and emerging technologies.

ABOUT THE ROLE

Reporting to the Manager Technical Services, the Senior Surveyor is the site's NSW Registered Mine Surveyor and custodian of the mine's survey systems, statutory plans and survey governance processes.

Leading a small surveying team, you will provide critical technical support to underground mining operations, ensuring the highest standards of accuracy, compliance and operational performance.

Importantly, this role provides a unique prospect to actively contribute to innovation, technology adoption and continuous improvement initiatives that improve safety, productivity and operational efficiency.

This is a permanent full-time position based at Dendrobium Mine near Wollongong, NSW.

Key Responsibilities

- Maintain and certify statutory mine plans and survey records

- Prepare and manage the Mine Survey Management Plan

- Lead all survey governance, compliance and data management activities

- Support longwall, development, gas drainage and infrastructure projects

- Maintain survey databases and systems, including ArcGIS

- Provide technical advice and surveying services across operational and technical departments

- Support the Authority to Mine (ATM) process

- Drive continuous improvement and innovation projects across surveying and technical systems

- Participate in technical committees, risk management activities and investigations





- Mentor and develop survey personnel while building capability within the team

ABOUT YOU

You are an experienced mining surveyor who thrives in a technically progressive setting and is motivated by the opportunity to influence mine performance and operational outcomes.

You enjoy collaborating with multidisciplinary teams, solving complex problems and applying new technologies to improve the way mining operations are planned and executed.

Essential Requirements

- Bachelor of Surveying, Bachelor of Engineering (Surveying) or equivalent

- Current NSW Mining Surveyor Registration

- Strong understanding of NSW mining legislation and statutory survey obligations

- Experience maintaining statutory plans and survey management systems

- Advanced proficiency with AutoCAD, Leica survey equipment and mining survey software

- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills

Desired Experience

- Minimum 5 years' experience in a mining surveying role

- At least 3 years' experience in underground coal mining

- Experience leading and mentoring survey teams

- Experience with GIS, Lidar scanning, and digital mine planning systems

- Demonstrated contribution to operational improvement, technology implementation or innovation projects
