About the role

Tommys Cafe is seeking a passionate and skilled Barista to join our dynamic hospitality team in East Gosford, NSW. This is a casual position that offers flexibility whilst maintaining the high standards our customers expect. As a Barista, you will be the face of our café, crafting exceptional coffee and beverages while delivering outstanding customer service. This role is central to creating a welcoming atmosphere and ensuring every customer leaves with a memorable experience.

Key responsibilities

- Prepare and serve high-quality espresso-based coffee drinks and other beverages with precision and consistency

- Operate and maintain espresso machines and other café equipment to the highest standards

- Take customer orders accurately and process payments using point-of-sale system

- Provide friendly and efficient customer service, remembering regular customers and their preferences

- Maintain a clean and hygienic work environment, including the coffee station and café areas

- Develop and maintain knowledge of coffee origins, brewing methods, and flavour profiles to educate customers

- Work collaboratively with team members during busy periods to ensure smooth operations

- Assist with stock management, including ordering supplies and monitoring inventory levels

- Adhere to food safety and hygiene protocols at all times

What we're looking for

- Previous experience as a Barista or in a café environment is essential

- Strong knowledge of espresso machines and coffee preparation techniques

- Excellent customer service skills with a genuine passion for hospitality

- Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment whilst maintaining quality





- Strong communication and teamwork abilities

- Attention to detail and commitment to cleanliness and hygiene standards

- Flexibility to work casual shifts, including weekends and public holidays

- A friendly demeanour and genuine interest in creating positive customer interactions

- Relevant barista certification or training is desirable

- Basic numeracy skills and familiarity with café point-of-sale systems are advantageous
