The Program Delivery – Built Infrastructure division delivers high-quality infrastructure solutions across the Top End of the Territory, and supports government priorities through strategic planning, technical expertise and innovative project delivery.
About the Role
This is a significant executive leadership opportunity to lead the Infrastructure Maintenance branch, supporting the delivery of infrastructure repairs and maintenance programs across the Northern Territory with a focus on the Greater Darwin and Top End Regions. The branch plays a critical role in ensuring government assets are maintained to appropriate standards through repairs, cyclical, reactive and emergency maintenance services.
Reporting to the General Manager Built Infrastructure, the Executive Director Infrastructure Maintenance will provide strategic leadership across a broad and complex maintenance portfolio, including Hospital Engineering Services, Defence Accommodation Precinct Darwin and the Engineering Functional Group in emergency situations. The role will ensure maintenance services are timely, compliant and aligned with government priorities, while managing competing operational demands in a resource-constrained setting.
The Executive Director will work closely with internal teams, contractors, government agencies and industry partners to strengthen maintenance delivery, improve business practices and support effective emergency and disaster response across built infrastructure assets.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide executive leadership and strategic direction to the Infrastructure Maintenance branch.
- Lead the delivery of repairs, cyclical,
reactive and emergency maintenance programs across the Northern Territory.
- Provide high-level strategic advice on complex and sensitive infrastructure repairs and maintenance matters.
- Lead strategic procurement, contracting opportunities and business improvement initiatives.
- Build collaborative partnerships with government agencies, contractors, industry bodies and community stakeholders.
- Lead the Engineering Functional Group’s emergency and disaster management response for built and road infrastructure assets.
- Prepare and review high-level documentation, including Ministerial, Legislative Assembly and Cabinet-related briefings.
About You
You are an accomplished executive leader with extensive experience in infrastructure maintenance, contract management, emergency response and complex program delivery.
You will bring:
- Strong executive leadership experience across geographically dispersed and multidisciplinary teams.
- Demonstrated capability providing strategic advice on complex infrastructure repairs and maintenance matters.
- Experience leading emergency or disaster management responses in an infrastructure context.
- Strong knowledge of procurement, contract management and government business processes.
- Proven experience managing financial, asset, resource and program responsibilities at a senior level.
- Exceptional communication,
negotiation and stakeholder engagement skills.
- A strong understanding of the building industry, construction, maintenance techniques, legislation and standards.
- Relevant tertiary qualifications and significant senior executive experience, or an equivalent combination of experience, education and training.
