The Department for Infrastructure and Transport plays a vital role connecting people and places in South Australia by delivering a multi-billion-dollar pipeline of transport and social infrastructure projects, operating and maintaining thousands of kilometres of roads and managing our city’s public transport network.
The Opportunity
We're looking for a passionate Senior Corporate Communications Officer (Road Safety) to join our Corporate Communications team.
This newly created role will lead the development and delivery of impactful communications and marketing initiatives that educate the community about road safety – and ultimately help save lives.

Working closely with the Road Safety Policy and Reform directorate, you’ll apply your expertise in communications, marketing and behaviour change to design and deliver targeted campaigns that influence attitudes and behaviours. You’ll lead research and communications projects, craft compelling messaging, and produce high-quality content across a range of channels and audiences.
You’ll be part of a collaborative, values-driven team that embraces diversity and supports your growth, development and ongoing learning.
About you
Strategic communicator: You are a strategic thinker and can effectively develop and deliver integrated communication and marketing strategies and activities for diverse community and stakeholder audiences, based on research and best practice.
Behaviour change wordsmith:
You have strong writing and editing skills, with the ability to turn behavioural insights into impactful road safety messaging that resonates with audiences and drives safer behaviours.
Results driven: You have exceptional project planning and time management skills and have a flair for producing results-driven communications activities that align with priorities and engage diverse audiences.
Cooperative team player: You have high-level interpersonal skills and seek opportunities to build meaningful relationships, trust, credibility and confidence with internal clients, strategic networks and stakeholders.
Experience in road safety communications, research and/or behaviour change initiatives will be highly regarded.

Qualifications/Experience
- Tertiary qualifications in communications or public relations or equivalent industry experience is essential.
- Experience in road safety communications, research and/or behaviour change initiatives will be highly regarded.
Special Conditions
- A National Police Check (NPC) is required prior to employment with the Department for Infrastructure and Transport which must be renewed every three years.
- A Working with Children Check (WWCC) is required prior to employment with the Department for Infrastructure and Transport, which must be renewed every five years before expiry.
- Some out of hours and weekend work, may be required.
Remuneration
ASO6 - $102,171 to $108,171 per annum + superannuation
