The Role
The Drug and Alcohol Nurse provides a broad range of D&A; services for patients within the Justice Health & Forensic Mental Health Network (JH&FMHN;).
These services include:
- Assessment & management of Intoxication and withdrawal states.
- Assessment & management of patients requesting to commence on an Opioid Substitution Treatment (OST) program or who are being maintained on an OST program whilst in custody.
- Substance Use and Pregnancy (SUP) program.
- Brief interventions including provision of harm minimisation strategies and related health education initiatives.
- Release care planning.
